Maintaining authenticity & rapport across separate niche sites?

I plan to have a network of sites each in slightly related niches plus a personal video blog. Each site caters to a different audience (one site has strictly a calm vibe while another site is strictly intense).

Usually these opposite types of people don't like each other. One side may see me as one of "them." Do you think it may be a good or bad idea if they know that the sites are related and run by the same person?

I'm also thinking of using an online helpdesk instead of email, but would that make the company look too big and impersonal? or established and trustworthy?

Why would the different niches even need to know about the other? If they did know about each other it seems to me that it would make you seem incongruent with your message as you're probably saying one thing on one site, and the opposite on the other site. If you could figure out a way to seem congruent to both it wouldn't matter either way.

To start I would keep things as personal as possible to build your rapport with your clients, so I would go with email.

Each site is sort of a category, not a completely different niche. I could just rely on text and emails, but i wanted a central video blog...

I have to agree with jwenberg, keeping them seperate seems like a good idea.

Any chance of making 2 video blogs?

and i was just ready to crush it and brand myself as well as my biz. scrap myname.com with helpful info in order to remaining anonymous? out of 7 sites planned, only 1 may actually not fit in. For the others, people would surely want to buy from all of them just like you would want more than one color of shirt.

You already seem quite decided. If only one doesn't fit in then go for it.

However, if there was a major culture clash between most of the sites then it wouldn't make sense to bring them together.

But that's not the case I take it.

Yes that's the thing, it would be a culture clash if I went deep in each area, but not if I stay shallow.
