How to link up my Wordpress Blog subscribers to my autoresponder

Hi,

Maybe there is someone out there doing this successfully. Maybe they can point me in the right direction.

I have a popular blog which gets a good number of subscribers each day. It is important for these people to actually subscribe to the blog as they can then contribute to it. I would like for these people to be added to an autoresponder list at the same time for obvious reasons.

I hear that there are dual registration plug ins for PHPList out there. I also know that most of these do not work. Anyway, PHPList is no longer an option as my hosting provider asked me to stop using it even though I was choking the delivery rates to a very low level.

What I am seeking is a dual registration plug-in which will work with any autoresponder service (I know that there is at least one Aweber flavoured product out there).

Does anyone here have any experience of this type of plug in?

Aweber now has its own Wordpress plugin available at wordpress(dot)org in the plugins pages. A week or so ago Aweber updated it to a newer version, I installed it, got the access code for the API from Aweber, but... still have been unable to make it work.

So, what I did was to simply get my Aweber form code, open a text widget on the right hand side of my page, and drop the Aweber code into the text box - not the title box.

Ooppps! My form was too wide for that widget. I then went back into Aweber, made my form skinnier, and reloaded the Aweber code into the text widget.

    Works just fine.

Recently I have found two... unfortunately none of them works as advertized

This is what they are supposed to do: when someone is registering to my WP blog (i.e. create a user) they should be automatically added to my aweber-clone list.

Well, one plugin was just plain dead.
The other one actually adds the registrant to the mailing list, however, for some unknown reason it will prevent WP from sending out the user info: username + password to the new registrants.

I contacted both plugin authors. One never replied. The other promised to look into it... a few days ago.

There are other plugins that will add your commenters email address to your mailing list. But that's a different issue.

    Don,

that just puts a simple aweebr form in your sidebar... for which you don't really need a plugin.
If you copy/paste the optin form code into a plain text widget in your sidebar... you get the same result

The OP, I think, was asking about plugins that I described above...

    Yes, Istvan,

It seems that you & I are on a similar mission.

There is a half finished plug in which ticks the boxes here: WP Dual Registration – WordPress Plugin | WebGuru Web Designs

Unless you are a coder, however, there is little chance of getting it to work as there is no user interface in the plug in. I have added a comment asking for help but, looking at the timeline of other comments, the guy behind it doesn't seem too interested in taking the project to conclusion at this time.

So, please let me know if you find a workable solution and I will do likewise.

I do not use Aweber so I am looking for a plug in which is not brand-specific.

    Hi,

You can use these plugins without any branded autoresponders.

    and

WordPress › Simple Mailing List « WordPress Plugins

    Let us know your experience.

    Satdin,

Too bad you didn't read all the details in the OP.
The OP used to have an in-house mailing list and his host is NOT allowing to use it anymore. Your "solution" would end him up in the same situation.

Furthermore, when your list grows too big - how do you transfer it to a decent AR service without having proof of double optin?

I realize this topic is almost 2 years old but maybe that's a good thing. I happen to be looking for something that solves this problem and haven't been able to find anything.

Since it has been 2 years, can anyone offer a solution?

To clarify, anytime someone registers at my WordPress blog, I want them added to my autoresponder list. In my case that would be Aweber.
