If you're talking about email, forget it. You'll just get in trouble for spamming.

Something else you can do that's OK is to buy an ad in someone's ezine. That's the ethical version of buying a list, since they are doing the mailing to their own list for you, rather than selling the email addresses to you.

If you have your own product, you can also contact list owners and try to get them to promote your product to their lists as an affiliate.

I wouldn't give up on building your own list, though. I went to your blog and don't see an optin form, so put one there since right now people who like your blog won't know how to get on your list.

I have a list of work at home moms. Is that the kind of thing you are looking for?

I have no intention of selling my list, but I might be interested in sending them an offer of yours, if I think it would be a good "fit" for my members and a good value.

It's a small list - only 2000 members - but it might help you out for a start.

PM me and we will talk.

Edited to add: In response of the PM's I am getting, please realize I have no intention of bombarding my list with dozens of JV offers. LOL I am very picky and protective with my list.

I will take a look at the offers I have gotten and sort through. If I like what I see, then I will let you know.

Wilson the only legitimate ways to get to people on a list is to either rent some co-op leads (via a reputable source) or to find a JV partner. Do not buy a random list of 50 million 'buyers' from a random website or person. You'll be in all sorts of spam problems!

    Hey Winson,

I like your blog's design. Why not adding an opt-in form to your blog? It works, and you will get some subscribers like that.

About your article site... It's weird in Firefox, you may want to fix that.

I buy 1,000 - 5,000 home business leads every week from trade shows and TV ads sources, and now have a list of over 600,000 subscribers. PM me for solo ad rates.

I wouldnt think buying an Email list is wise.
Search engines will probably spot you more often than not for spamming and put your url in containment.
try improving on content always, this will take your site a long way.
    Best of Luck.

You want to build your own List! Put an opt-in or squeeze page on your website. Offer prospects a free e-book, report, or cd. In order for your prospect to get the information request their name and e-mail address.

        Reply to WinsonYeung.

You have already had some good answers to help you with building a list, and most of it is top notch.

There is also PPC to help build a list, and it is a great way for targeted traffic. Remember, you only want people who are hungry for answers. With PPC they are more likely to be warmed up before they even get to your website.

There are of course the perils of spending money and not getting a return. Never the less, it is the fastest way to get targeted traffic to your product or service.

As for what to offer your visitors as an incentive to join your list:
PLR/MRR is by far the easiest way to build a list by giving your visitors something of value.

You can buy the rights to good quality products for a very low price these days. You offer your visitors something to help them, and follow up with more of the same.

There are also loads of good affiliate products that will give you brandable eBooks etc to help you capture a list, and that will cost you nothing.

What is it that you are promoting or what is your ultimate aim?
Ask yourself the self same question and get a product to compliment that you can offer for free as a way to get people to join your list.

And remember, it is all about traffic. Branch out. Extend your reach. Do the old fashioned stuff like article marketing, social sites, blogs, squidoo etc.

If you can drive traffic to your website you have a much better chance of getting more visitors who turn to customers. Also make sure your free offer is something of value and completely related to your website idea.

        Wishing you great success.

I've bought leads on several occasions and it never really worked out for me. I even purchased double opt in leads that were unresponsive, perhaps they were incentivized which would explain this. Best to build an organic list from scratch, one that you personally form a relationship with.
