How to Go About Working With An Expert?

I am planning my new membership site but i am thinking of doing something that is not in my area of expertise. For example weight loss niche. How can I go about working with a fitness expert to create the content tog and what sort of arrangement should I have with him.

Is there anyone experience in working with experts from other industries to create info products before? How do you compensate them??

I usually pay them for their time to keep them interested. You can work out splits but then people don't keep their time commitments and end up getting too much $$

These are my thoughts from the other side of the fence.

I'm an expert in my niche, and I have in the past worked with someone to create a dog niche site (I'm a veterinarian and dog trainer). I contributed the expertise, and they created the website and marketed it. That's what you're thinking of doing for your site?

With this particular person, it didn't work out. However, my current WSO is a collaboration with another marketer and we make a good team. So, it can be a successful arrangement.

If someone approached me to provide content for a site and the arrangement would be a profit sharing setup, I'd want the following before I'd even consider it:

*Some sort of communication and relationship with the youn. If someone emailed me out of the blue and asked me to provide content in exchange for part profits, I'd say no. I did that just last week. I'd want some conversation with you to get acquainted, and see whether or not we could get on.

*Some proof that you've done this sort of thing in the past and been successful at it. I don't want to give up my time and effort without some chance of getting a bit of money back for the time I invest.

*A document spelling out what both parties are to contribute, and ultimately who owns the content or intellectual property.

If you couldn't do that, I'd prefer you just to pay me for the content I create, you own it and I just stay out of the way.

Yes, that is exactly what I am thinking about. How is the split like usually? 50/50?

Maybe join a local gym (or whatever else applies to your real niche, if it isn't weight loss) and get to know the staff.

If you find one with good knowledge of the niche, ask if they are interested in a joint venture. Probably a 50/50 split would be the best way to go - if you feel insecure consult a business advise service or attorney about drawing up a proper agrreement.
