Personal blog vs stay anonymous in many niches?

I'd like a personal blog to establish my expertise overall in a niche, but I also want to be seen as an expert in a handful of other niches. Would ppl think its strange if i have 5 youtube channels of similar material but customized for each niche? Like if you know an expert action filmmaker, then find out hes also an expert chick flick filmmaker.

Edit: They're not completely different niches, just one niche with differences depending on culture/geographic location.

You can create pen names or personas. I actually do that in a niche. But more importantly... make sure you focus! It is all about Focus.. then build out other niche expertise.

If interested I have a 3 hour (plus) video workshop that shows you how to become an expert and (in the know) in any niche/market. It may be beneficial and I'm giving it away to a select few. If interested PM me.

My guess, without knowing the details of your niche, is that it'll probably put some people off.

It makes you look - to some people - like a professional promoter/seller, rather than a specialist in an individual aspect in which they can respect your expertise. You don't want people thinking "He'll make videos about anything he thinks he can sell/promote" rather than "He's an expert on XYZ aspect of this, which is what I want to learn about".

  • Definitely create five entirely independent YouTube accounts, with no obvious links between them. There's no problem with being perceived as an expert in more than one niche, but it does raise alarm bells in a certain type of Internet aware consumer.

    Alexa nails it again.

Become an expert in one niche. Devote your time to that niche. Be transparent in that niche.

Gaining the trust of your niche will make you more money than being shadowy in multiple niches because people do business with people, not profiles. By doing business I mean making *real money.*

Of course it all depends on your goals and what you deem *real money* to be

    Honesty is the only policy.

I understand exactly about focusing on one niche. It actually is one niche but has differences depending on culture/geographic location. If I didn't want to do video I'd have no problem.

Filmmaking is the niche. Chick flicks is the sub niche. It's all in the niche of filmmaking.

At least filmmaking is a big enough niche that you can really make your blog comprehensive. Make chick flicks a separate category.

      Romantic Comedy
      Horror
      Mystery/Suspense
      Action

      Or maybe...

      Transitions
      Camera Angles
      Screenwriting/Storytelling
      Editing
      Visual Effects
      Sound Effects

You decide. On You Tube there's a group called Indy Mogul that does filmmaking techniques. See how those kids lined up their channel and their blog.

Actually filmmaking was just an example (a great example). The separate sites would sell products for a sub-niche and not need videos, while the central blog would be based on the technicalities of the main niche (how to do xyz with the products) and applicable to all. I think I can do it.

If you are truly skilled at building relationships, there's nothing wrong with being a promoter.

Many a famous person got to where they are because of a 'publicist.'

        I agree with Alexa, almost.

Since you are defining these as subsets of one niche, if you do an EXCELLENT job of positioning the content you would be fine.

        Example: Market - Dating

Niches - Meeting Asian Women, Meeting Russian Women, Meeting Black Women, Meeting Blondes, etc...

By creating content which is similar but highlights cultural, communication, and ethnic differences you could have unique content and be seen as an expert on international dating.

But, as Alexa clearly states, without knowing your market and niches specifically there is no way to really answer your question.

        Take care,
