  • The reviews are really important. It can be a valid (and cost-effective) strategy to cover the costs of people purchasing your ebook, just to get it out there.

    You can also look at pricing. Start the ebook off at an insanely low price to get reviews, then set it to the sensible price once it's ready.

    Don't solely look at ebooks. Physical books are generally more visible, and your reviews for a physical book can show on the ebook page (and vice-versa). You can set up a physical book to sell for much more than the electronic equivalent, thus making the ebook seem a comparative bargain and pushing sales in that direction.

    Send review copies to bloggers. Heck, I'm sure there are folks here who would take a review copy. Ask them to post the review on their blog with a link to the amazon sales page. Also ask them to copy the review as an amazon review.
