Can You Make money without selling a product on a blog?

Hi guys am an absoloute newbie to this stuff but been reading this great forum for the last month. Amazing knowledge. Anyway i had a question for you guys. I wanted to know if someone could direct me in the right direction. I have found a great niche that i really enjoy but i wanted to know if it was worth pursuing. basically i am not selling a product i wanted to do a blog about my niche but it is more about reviewing past events and giving them video highlights with it using youtube and other video sharing websites. i wanted to know if it was possible to monetize this kind of blog. I am not sure what to look for as a lot as a lot of the internet marketing stuff i have found so far has been mainly on affiliate marketing on blogs. i know you can sell advertisement banners on the side but not sure where to look for and how to entice sponsers, and i was also interested on adsense, and that sort of stuff. if someone could help me out on this matter and what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Adsense is always a good option for monetizing an information based website. You may want to check the CPC for the keywords to see how profitable they would be for adsense earnings though. As for advertisers, they are going to want to know/see how much traffic your site is generating. So before you can attract advertisers, you'll need to focus on generating traffic. There are several services that can sell ads on your site for you.

Yes of course. Go make a extremely controversial video and upload it to youtube. Go sign up on blogger, and insert a redirect script. Redirect to a email/free cpa offer.

Adsense would be the best option which, even though its still kind of like selling products. But with Adsense you don't have to choose which products to sell, you just place some advertisement code in your page source, and google serves up ads related to your website. Some people make a lot of money with Adsense. I prefer selling specific products on most of my niche sites, but it often takes a lot of time to set up and maintain the affiliate links and stuff.

There are lots of ways to make money online. You can work as a SEO specialist if you can.

Someone who's asking the question that the OP is asking should go out and work as an "SEO Specialist"? This is why the "offline marketing" thing is going to get a bad name very quickly.

In regards to the OPs question, I suggest you grab a book titled "Crush It" by a man named Gary Vaynerchuk. The book outlines how to profit from a blog without a product or service. It was a NYT Best Seller and the reviews on amazon are outstanding. I read it and enjoyed it. It doesn't really fit into my business model but it was still an excellent product and great for someone looking to do what you want to do.

Look at people like Perez Hilton, Ariana Huffington, and I-Justine. Those are jut 3 examples of the tens of thousands of blogs (maybe more) that are making money without a product.

If the CPC for the AdWords is decent, $2 or more, then you might be able to do well with AdSense if you can get enough traffic. You might be able to do ok with a lower CPC as I had good revenues when i was making just fourteen cents per click, but I had 1,500 clicks the day of publishing. I didn't get too many of those though.

But AdSense was pretty good to me. Did much better with that than the other ad I had on my site. I will depend a lot on the niche and what the CPC is more than likely though.

Yes, I never sold a single product but I am earning hundreds.... Just start from the very basic (Adsense) or CPA... no need to rush especially if you are still on learning stage.

You can also put up affiliate offers from clickbank or other networks that are relevant to your niche.

You could create an ebook and sell it yourself and get paid directly via paypal. That's always a nice way to earn, getting the money right away, directly, and you have more control.

You could start building a list and getting people to fill in their emails on an opt-in form and then email them a few times a week with help and sometimes affiliate offers or your own products.

    You can use Adsense.

Really the world is your oyster.
