Opinions needed: AutoBlogging Software

by spazz
19 replies
Okay - so here's the deal. I am tired of my domains making pennies in parking and have started looking at some automations ideas to try to tempt some additional traffic etc and possibly make some decent money off of over 1000 domains I own.

I have (very briefly) looked at WP-Robot, MultiPress, and AutoBlog Samurai

I am looking for feedback, comparable programs, etc. I obviously want something that is fairly quick to setup and self-sustaining after that. Server space is not a huge issue as I already have several dedicated servers, but I do want to avoid anything that may be highly bandwidth intensive (downloading a few thousand images to the server via RSS feeds every night can add up across 1000+ domains)

What are your opinions of these products or suggestions for others that really could be a set it and forget it base?

Thanks in advance.

    Good luck!

I have done this. I did not see any really useful information which is why I asked for opinions.

Since you have used this, please let me know if my assumptions are correct... This looks more like a SPLOG creator to me. It says that it goes ot the originating source from a feed and scrapes the entire content. It looks like this product was created to be a little sneaky. I want to make sure that when I put my sites up, they are following generally accepted procedures and pulling information in legal ways.

just be careful in using auto blogging software. The program might create a duplicate content or create useless content like fraud articles.

Thank you Torjak - this is why I am looking for recommendations and opinions from those who have used these programs

Duplicate content don't need to be an issue, just follow the rules of the sources you get the content from. You don't need to "just" republish feeds, but also and this is the best way - you have to use your own content or PLR content and then mix it with some other stuff that will add $$$ to your account. That is AdSense, Amazon, affiliate programs and of course, your own stuff (if you have any).

Remember, this is NOT about building splogs, this is about AUTOMATING some stuff (posting the content, adding aff links) that will SAVE you lots of HOURS, DAYS and even months of the hard work...

There are lots of tools & plugins available - so far the most advanced seems to be WP Robot - sure the price reflects that.

I'm not trying to spam, so disregard this note if it bothers you. See my signature lines for autoblogging solutions. Do not believe the non-believers who say you will have problems with duplicate content. I now have multiple blogs running on an autoblog program.

I have one autoblog that I post articles and RSS feeds every hour, it's been running for almost a year. I have 40,000+ pages indexed, 20,000+ backlinks. The domain was new when I started the autoblog and has never been anything except the auto blog that it currently is.

I'm a huge fan of autoblogging software and i'm converting every site I own using one of these products.

            Good luck .

I too am a HUGE fan of automation tools...I think they are great, if they work.

If you're really worried about giving the wrong impression with spamming then one place you might want to start is by having only 1 link to the same page in your sig...instead of three

              Just my opinion of course

I know and you are right, but you will find that I don't post here often because of that very reason. It's all about the backlinks ...

You might want to look at Wordpress Direct, they are not technically an autoblogging program but are a Wordpress setup, optimization, and automation service.

May not be exactly what you are looking for but they do have some very nice features you might wish to explore.

I'll pull my sig out of this reply, for obvious reasons...

But here's a comment I received today which might help, since it's a good strategy...names blanked out to preserve privacy

Just a quick update. Firstly, thanks for your continued replies and comments. I do not think that there are many software owners out there that spend as much time discussing their programs as you do, so plaudits.

Also, thanks go to TW the `Robin` to your `Batman` so to speak!

I can now report that after the previously suggested few months in isolation (sandboxed new domain), both my blogs now sit at or near #1 on page 1!

Bearing in mind the categories these are in, "anti aging products" and "online marketing" respectively, it is sufficient testimony to the efficacy of *BLAH* to perform as stated by Steve Fullman.

As Steve has touched upon in an earlier reply, persistent link building has also had it`s effect.

I also had the use of a program called IBP which sorted out the SEO aspects of my blogs.

If I have words of encouragement for would be bloggers looking at the best way to start and get results, they are these:-

If you can get hold of an aged domain name that has either your keyword(s) in it, or is very closely related, use it. It can help avoid the now admitted `Google sandbox`.

Use the basic plugins, like `All-in-one-SEO`, `Askimet`, `WP Database Manager`, `SEO Smartlinks`, `Slick WP Autopost`and of course `*BLAH*`. I will not go off topic and offer reasons. Just Google them and decide yourself and add any more relative to your niche or blog subject.

Just a quick word about *BLAH* and autoblogging.

All my blogs are autoblogs. They start out with riginal content posted by me for a couple of weeks, then I transfer over to the autoiblogging software.

What you will find with *BLAH* is that the autoposted articles will start to appear on the first page(s) in Google almost straightaway.

However, if, like me, you used a new domain name for a couple of them, they can get sandboxed by Google. This is not a duplicate penalty or any of that old tosh, it is simply Google`s way of establishing that you are not one of the thousands of `flybynight` websites that will disappear almost as quickly as they appear.

Evidently, that is Google`s explanation for the delay in your site showing in the index, or its content showing in results for a while.

You need a patience. It may take 2-3 months, but it will eventually come out of `exile` and straight to page one.

That has been my experience and you can go back through all the previous posts in this thread to find the various times that I have posted problems I have encountered.

Some have got into heated exchanges between TW and myself, but the end result is that through the process of discussion and argument I now have two powerful autoblogs that are forging ahead on page one of Google getting the traffic that comes with it.

So congratulations to Steve and TW for their forebearance and a happy Christmas to them and to you all.

    Lesson: build backlinks.

    Cheers,
    Steve

No worries - this is actually the kind of info I am looking for. I see that, based on your site, you like WP-Robot - have you used any others to compare it against?

I would have preferred you did not pull out your signature - not so obvious to me as I only post here a few times a year :-)
If you have another solution that I should look at, please feel free to post it - this is the kind of information I am looking for.
      Thanks.

        Hi Damion,

I pulled my signature out because this isn't a *promote our stuff* board.

I'll send you a link...be prepared for a long night, though

I love WPRobot, I use it extensively in a number of blogs. Depending on the blog I use it differently. Some blogs I just populate content, other blogs I populate content, affiliate products, etc. It is a rock solid product and I am a huge, huge fan.

Try Mike Johnson's Auto Blog Blueprint if you really want to learn how it's done. But brace yourself for a hell of a ride!

This is a tough and demanding program like all based on real world, down to earth, honest techniques. But once you got it, well, it just works. No shortcuts, no hype, just pure knowledge.

Yes it's Auto Blogging, and I was very sceptical and stated so at their forum, but I am converted because the program really focuses on putting out valuable content and no spam Blogs. That's one of the many reasons why it works.

Stay away from auto-blog samuri. I tried it and it's too confusing. This product has potential, but there are too many holes. I really like WP robot though. I do like Extreme Cash Blueprint though. It's a video course about auto-blogging. I like the slow and steady method.

I am already prepped for a long night - wife has me wrapping the first half of Christmas gifts tonight so we don;t have such a late night tomorrow :-)
I may be able to throw in a little study time though. If it is text, makes it easy - have issues with video because it is hard to "speed read" it :-)

        Lol,

We're in *exactly* the same boat, my friend

50% of wrapping up...done, as requested!

        50% + balloons tomorrow.

Yeah, no balloons on this end, but a lot of gifts to wrap with 3 kids...
To top things off, I got to pull it all out of the attic once the little one is asleep. I bet I couldn't fit all the toys on a pallet - wife went a little crazy this year.
