Is it possible to ban a Clickbank Affiliate?

What the title says!

Is there a way I can ban individual affiliates from promoting a Clickbank product?

Thanks

    I believe that you can require all affiliates to have the vendor's permission to be affiliates, and then just decline the one you don't want. Probably not very helpful.

    Other than that, I think all you can do is open a helpdesk ticket there, explain the position to them and see what happens (they might just decide to be helpful about it?)

      Thanks Alexa. I've started by adding a paragraph to my affiliate page requesting affiliates not to promote my product in a certain way (i'm sure you can guess what that is).

      I've also emailed the affiliate and asked if they believe that the product is what they are saying that they contact me to explain their problem.

      I don't think there is a problem - they're just trying it on with less than legitimate marketing techniques.

      It just riled me - I'm stuck at home because of the snow - I think I quite literally need to get out more.

      The problem is that affiliates who promote a clickbank product never have to ask for the vendor's permission.
      So I guess that will not work.

        This is wrong.

        The vendor gets to decide that, if s/he chooses to. I learned this only quite recently (it surprised me, too - I had always imagined exactly what you say above, but that turned out to be mistaken).

    Maybe you need to refer such an affiliate to this Clickbank page:

    A simple PHP if statement would work.

    I am not the best programmer but it should kinda look like

    if $hop = xyz;
    header( 'Location: http://www.yoursite.com/ban_page.html' ) ;

      Thanks Brad. Hopefully it won't come to that - and hopefully I'll get out this afternoon and start thinking about more constructive things.

      I've saved that code, though, so I can try it if necessary.

      @ King - Thanks - the bit I need is right there in their "Don'ts"

      What about changing his affiliate id to someone else (not sure will if this is against Clickbank rules)

      Yeah, something like that would stop anyone he refers making it to your sales page and going through with an order, but it doesn't stop what the affiliate is actually doing wrong.

      And if the affiliate realizes you have done this they will just go and open a new account. The same will probably happen if Clickbank closes his account - he'll just use different details and signup for a new one.

      I'm sure whatever he is doing he is only doing to try and get ahead and make more sales. So you may want to try and educate him and show him a way that he could still promote your product, but ethically.

      How enormously clever of you jastin.

      You managed to copy and paste Alexas first comment and put it here.

      Wish I was that smart.

        I wish I was smarter...sorry more stupid than a regular spammer.

        One little boy was taught by his teacher, "Fast...Faster...Fastest; Mad...Madder...Maddest"

        What about "spam"?

        Okay, it should be "spam...spammer...spammest"

    Sounds to me like they are using negative marketing techniques? If so, just contact Clickbank and let them know - they can cancel their account. Make sure you have some screenshots, etc to back up your claim.

      Yes, I think Will is correct. Mike Geary sent out an email to all his affs not long ago warning them that those promoting his product via unacceptable methods would be canned.

    Do you mind if I ask what the affiliate is doing? The reason I ask is that I am about to (finally) start selling via Clickbank and it might be good to know what to be on the lookout for....

    Thanks,
