I was never impressed when Facebook were said to have more traffic than Google. And this is why Facebook are NOT the leaders ...

    Google shows #1 in traffic and double the page views per user.

    I don't know...I think Google has more value because, as an advertiser, they bring better traffic. As a consumer, they provide better tools to do what I need.

    Facebook is cool, but I'm not going to facebook to do anything commercial. It's just to screw around.

      That is correct, facebook has zero commercial potential. That is certainly why there are no people making 6 figure incomes purely through traffic from cpc and cpm ads on facebook. /sarcasm

        I have 4 Facebook friends that I KNOW ARE making 6+ figures from Facebook activities alone. (3 belong to this forum). There are doubtless more.

        (Sorry, must be feeling contrary today?)

        I was speaking from my own experience, that is, the value they bring to me as an advertiser/user. And I was comparing them TO ONE ANOTHER. Not in isolation.

        It is kinda funny to me when people have replies like yours. Because they usually don't have any relevance to the original post. It's like if someone says "Studies show email use is down 50%", there will always be someone saying "Well, I'm making more money than ever using email". Yeah, that's not really the point. It's that usage is going down and what to do about it.

      Google brings ready buyers, but not necessarily "better" traffic. If you're looking to convert directly to a sale of a known product, Google is much easier - you target buying keywords, and the traffic you get is actively looking to purchase. All you have to do is give the pitch.

      Facebook is a different beast, in that it allows you to target on a demographic basis. If you're selling a product that people don't know they need yet, then Facebook is way better than Google. You'll convert at a lower rate, but you'll get traffic that you could never have reached through Google.
