Who Uses Review Sites Here?

How many of you are pre-selling with review sites? How is it working out for you? How are conversions? What is the niche? I'm interested in seeing what experiences people have had. I have a plug n play style review site I'm promoting, so far no conversions, waiting to see what happens I guess. Just promoting with targeted articles.

For me, review sites have worked pretty well. Especially in 'problem niches' such as weight loss and stuff like that. The key for me with my review pages is to appeal to the reader's emotion. Almost show empathy for them and make it seem like you can relate to their problem and you have them! Sales with problem niches are so easy like this.

People want to find their 'twin' online... someone just like them that has the same problem, and has found the solution...

Keep this in mind while writing your reviews.

Hey mrsleep99: I also started a weight loss products review site at Weight Loss Review Website - Home Page.

Yours looks simple and is all on one page, I like it. But is it required to cloak the aff links because the target audience don't possibly know that you are promoting a CB product?

How are you promoting it? I submitted 10 articles to ezine articles and got a message that unless they are reviewed, I can't submit any more.

    Hey Andrew,

I'm doing one at Consumer Feedback Reports and these sites move depending on how you do your promotions. Using Twitter, submitting articles and making videos will ultimately kick in any review site as well as any that link to it. I'm getting more and more people looking from Twitter. It's simple and fast.

Some of these sites are sleeping giants and there are a few people who will be sorry they didn't pay attention in the end.

In my experience of promoting via a review site, I would say make the site look as simple as possible. The more graphics you show, the more the site looks like its advertising something. I've had more success with review type sites where there are no graphics at all - I think the people who visit see the graphics and immediately think 'salesy'. If I were you, I would simplify the site - remove the flashy graphics and focus on the content...

I've had better conversions on sites where there hasn't been the usual IM header...

    Thats just my opinion though...

Whatever site you use, even your own website, making a review that seems to come from a third party reliable resource is GOLD!

if someone interested in your product comes across a review that has only good things to say about it then that lead is as good as a customer!

    Don't you just love scarcity..

Once a Company or Product is listed in a review category, you may post a comment but you may not start another review on the same Company or Product. Get your review in before someone else does it FIRST!

My intention was to avoid multiple reviews from affiliates of the same program but looking at it from your point of view, I can see it can be viewed a bit radically. Sometimes viewpoints can help...thanks..

    mrsleep99:
Depends of traffic, review site could convert more or less.
If you target keywords like "product name review" conversion will be higher then if you use keywords related to problem. Most of people who are searching with keywords that describe problem are looking for free answer online. Some will find it in million of pages.
Those who search for product name + "review" or "discount"...want to buy it.

I use review sites alot but I wouldn't use that type of review for a weight loss site. People who want to lose weight want to read about personal experience with different programs/products.

For instance if I was someone wanting to lose weight and I came across your review site it would prompt me to research Fat Loss 4 Idiots some more. You give it 5 stars but you never told me you actually tried it, how much you lost, the struggles and successes you had with it etc. You need to address all these issues if you want to successfully sell weight loss products.

To find out more about FL4I I would then probably look for discussions in forums, personal blogs etc. If I wanted to lose let's say 20 pounds, I need to hear from other people who have lost 20 pounds with the diet, I want to know how long it took and other details like what they could/couldn't eat etc. It's all about social proof and trust when it comes to weight loss because there are SO many different programs, pills, products etc to choose from.

If I was selling FL4I what I would do is devote an entire blog to it. I'd try out the product for myself, report on my blog each day, get other people's feedback etc.

My review site has been working great. Because I'm too new to the forum, I can't post a link to it. However, it immediately started converting sales for me, and I've found that the better the information you give to people, the better your sales tend to be. People really like an honest opinion, and will give your campaigns a lot of sales if you help them out.

shkad14: I put it together (from a template) only 2 days back. No promotion so far. So no sales. I submitted 10 articles to ezine and am waiting for them to review and approve.

    coco
: I agree, I put together my jazzy weight loss review site only to sell it. But then I thought I will promote it a bit so I can sell for more.

Going forward, I have prepared a generic template for review sites having a simple header.

    Screenshots:

Hamida: For me to personally try and do a honest review on weight loss products, I need to gain weight first I agree that one has to try out any program before they can write honestly about it. I wrote a post about my webhost in my blog where I explained how one could get the best deal. It brought me $500 so far w/o any promotion.

Myles: You can just type it w/o the http://www. It will be interesting to see how a well converting review site looks like.

All the affiliate products I sell, and I mean ALL of them, use review sites.

For me, it is the ONLY way to sell a product as an affiliate. If you can't
speak intelligently about it and give the prospect info that is going to help
them, what reason do they have to buy from you?

Sure, they may go to the sales page and check it out and maybe buy it
because the copy was good, but if you give them a compelling reason to
go there in the first place with a solid and honest review, you have a much
better chance of making the sale.

If I don't go the review site way (only in IM niche will I forgo this) I'll send
an email to my list with a review of the product. Either way, it's still a
      review.

I used this method with Dean Shainin's recent product launch and it has
worked incredibly well. Of course adding the bonuses don't hurt.

And that's another thing. When you do your review, offer an additional
incentive for the person to buy from you such as a related product bonus.

This is harder to do in non IM niches, at least for me, because I don't have
a lot of material that I own the rights to that I can offer as a bonus. But
in IM, this works like gangbusters for me with over 20 products to choose
from to give as a bonus.

The key to making it work is to offer a bonus that is so closely related to
what they're buying, something that enhances the original product so
much, that the prospect almost can't help but make the purchase from
      you.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents of wisdom for today.

I use review sites for most of my affiliate product promotion.

I also use video sites where I have CB, Adsense, and Amazon (sometimes ebay auctions as well) on the site.
