If your article is interesting enough, people reading your article will click your links to get more information or take you up on your offers.

    and

If your into seo, the links that your place on that article leading people to your website acts as a backlink. A backlink is basically a vote to help search engines understand the value of your content. The concept is the more votes from reputable pages or websites the more value your site seems to have, which in many cases will move your site closer to the top of the search engines search results for related keywords.

    I hope that helps

      It helps a lot. Thanks.

From the example above my question would be the next.
When a link takes a person reading the article to your website, would that website be an exact replica of the article? or would it show a completely different area showing only the products being promoted?

It depends on what you want to do. I've seen some affiliate marketers create a website that looks like it's the actual site where you can buy the product, the domain name is similar to the product name, and the website contains reviews which are testimonials from the actual product site; but all of the links are their affiliate links that link to the actual product for purchase.

The other method that I've seen, and the one that I prefer to do myself, is creating a page, post, article, etc. on my main site and this article is just a simple review, which will have a link or two to the actual site. This allows me to post many different products on my site and not have to always buy a domain name and create an entirely new site.

Another option would be to get a domain name and just use it as a redirect using your affiliate link to the main site. Ezinearticles allows you to do this, and you don't have to worry about getting that extra click from your website and then to the product...it's a direct click from the article you wrote that's on Ezinearticles, and then that link is your domain you bought which will automatically redirect to your affiliate link, which is the actual main product site.

A profitable article marketing campaign relies on writing high quality articles that are anywhere from 400 to 500 words in length based on any niche or topic the writer hopes to profit from through the traffic their article generates to their website.

The writer then takes the articles they have written and submits them to numerous article directories for free where the articles are generally reviewed by the directory staff and then published for syndication.

This publishing of the article allows other marketers the ability to take the content and use it on their own websites so long as the author’s resource box remains intact because that’s where the writer places their call to action or marketing message designed to send the reader of the content back to the original writer’s website with the intent to make a sale.

Articles provide exposure, build a brand, provide backlinks and generate traffic and that's just for starters.

I think you're thinking of it backwards.

The article is designed to get traffic to your website, blog, squeeze page or review site that expounds more on the ideas you talked about in your article.

Yes. There are SEO and backlinking benefits for your site linking from an article directory, but put yourself in the shoes of the reader.

He started reading your article. What information did you want to show him next?

I recommend sending him to a landing page that pre-sells and warms him up before sending him directly to your affiliate page. Not all vendor sales pages are that great.

See? that is one of the points that are still not to clear for me.
Looking at the process from the customer's point of view, isn't it more likely that they would start their search from google instead of ezineaeticles?. I think most people would start that way. And then how would they be redirected to ezinerticles? via google results? and if that is the case, why not just leave your original article in your webpage or blog, and work the seo side to make sure it is well ranked instead of having the user go to ezine articles and back to your page?

I hope my questions make sense.

I was gonna offer a bit of advice ... but it looks like dlink & TimG have some GREAT answers for you. Excellent tips/advice actually. Seriously, take what they've just told you & let that sink in for a bit... then get started writing articles & getting visitors/buyers to your site!

Edit: What you just said about Google visitors is another reason why the article sites can help. They have more authority with the search engines, so they can show up easier in the results. You still want that content on your site (and you can work on its SEO) ... but the article sites usually have an easier time showing up than trying to get your site ranking there. Yes, it's very possible to get your site up there... and, although not always, the article sites just tend to have an easier time. (Plus the link from them in your article holds power to help the SEO on your own site).

Here is one more important tip. The keyword phrase used in the article title is probably the most important piece to the article ranking puzzle.

The correct keyword phrase used in a catchy article title combined with the authority status of specific article directories is what provides the leverage allowing your submitted article to rank on the first page of Google.

The difference between having your article on the first page of Google for a highly searched keyword phrase and on subsequent pages is where the traffic generation takes place.
