How big should your list be before you start selling?

I have steadily built up my blog to just over 150 subscribers in past few months. i am new to this so not sure if thats a good or bad number but considering I only blog once a week I am quite proud of it myself.

Naturally, I am tempted to send out an email recommending a product however I am not sure if the conversion rate will be worth it, and if it would be worth holding off till i have maybe 500 or 1000 subs?

Anyone care to share their view on this? Thanks

Only you know how many are on your list so you could start selling after your first join.

I don't think the number of subscribers matters as much as how and how often you are pitching products.

Yeah, your list should be monetized for the very first person that joins. Don't just affiliate link them to death though, try a review or showcase the product. Create value in the mind of your subscriber.

You have been sending them other emails, without recommending a product, I hope?

I ask because I know that when people start threads here complaining that their lists are "unresponsive" it's so often because they've signed them up and then abandoned them. People on your list need to hear back from you immediately and regularly (even if not frequently), otherwise they won't even still know who you are when you contact them.

No reason to hold off until you have more than 1 person, really. Whatever email you send the first person on the first day will go out to each new person on their first day, too ... and so on. (Not that the very first email needs to recommend a product, but you might be recommending a product to each person within a week of them joining your list?).

Don't look at it as a one-off issue with one mailing and one conversion-rate. It's a process. The conversion-rate will start at zero and will grow.

Going off what she said: The first few emails in your sequence should work to build a relationship, and assert yourself as an authority in their eyes. Then you could start recommending product, once they know you're not gonna bs them

    Person Numero Uno!

Get your list used to you selling them great products with great value from the very first day! If they get used to you giving them things for free, or just sending them information, you'll struggle to make anything from them in future.

I wonder of the question might be really, when do I start the autoresponder sequence that each new subscriber will experience as they first sign up. The sooner you get it out of the way, the better you will be able to shift your attention yo individual subscriber and affiliate merchants when your list is big.
