How long did it take for your blog to get a following?

I started a blog on blogger (in my sig) with content based on what I know, rather than PLR stuff which I tried to do before this. So I figured if I can develop my blog enough to start getting a following and a list I can start making some money then move my blog to its own site, where I will attempt to build an authority site around it. I plan to update my blog every couple of days or whenever I think of some content.
One of my new posts I added had an affiliate link in it, and yesterday and the day before I got around 5 views, and another 35(which I think are just from this site I used to get some backlinks view it here: Internet Marketing & SEO Forum - IMT Website Submitter .Opera users need to use internet explorer or everything Fails).
So I am asking how long did it take for your blog to start making money and what did you do?

cool, if you wouldn't mind explaining a bit more? What simple SEO things did you do, just seeding your posts with keywords? Did you focus on certain keywords per post or did you use the same keywords in every post?

Well, I've have a few blogs, One I did a review site with, and did major SEO to it. and got first page rankings for the launch of the product. Made me some killer money.

Then I've had a tips and tricks tutorial blog like you seem to have. You want to be careful about posting affiliate links and such in your blog and doing post just to make sells.

If people come there for information you can't be to sells pushy.

Lets say you have a banner on your side bar. That wouldn't be too pushy and people can see it but its not like you are shoving it down their throat to BUY BUY BUY.

Once I tried that on my blog I really did start making sells. Just giving out good information with 1 or 2 banner ads on my side bar.

Ah, do you use adsense? I never really thought you could make much with ad sense clicks. I thought that every so often (less than once a week) adding an affiliate link onto an informational blog post could help me get some good sales.
RIght now my blog is bouncing around but I plan to focus more on Network, computer, and gadget security.
I already have a domain name, I just need money for hosting because a couple of months ago I blew $100 bucks on hosting and some stupid plugin for another project. The hosting was Ipage and they suck, there is something on their server that is keeping me from installing WP correctly, so I am hoping to make some money on blogger then I am going on hostgator

No I don't use adsense I just place an affiliate banner on there... You can check out what I have and copy it the link is in my Sig Box.

Adsense FILLS you site with ads which I find quite annoying. If i go to a blog and its covered in ads I'll only go there once.

Heh, I'd only use Blogspot if I had a blogfarm for amazon affiliates. (In which I do.)

I use domains for something of importance that I feel I am going to sell or expand into something a bit bigger.

yes but if you are going into a branding stand point such as branding your name or a company. You'd want to use that as a domain
