What do I do once my info product is completed?

I'm a newbie and I've been reading the posts on this forum for a while now. I would like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge and advice so freely. To be honest, all of the information on this forum can seem quite intimidating for a newbie - at least one like me who does not possess technical/web/programming skills.

I would like to know if there is a thread or other source that literally lists the steps one would take once his product is completed and ready to be sold via a mini-site (I searched but didn't find such). I am hoping to find a "checklist" or similar tool that specifies the sequence one would take if this was his first mini-site/product, which for me, it is!

I realize that the vast majority of folks here are very advanced from the position I am in, but I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I have a significant training/content development background and am very comfortable with writing my own information products in a few niches I have experience in, but I do need help in getting the entire online set-up, paypal, autoresponder, etc, established, functional and sustainable.

FYI...I plan on having several products in one niche for sale within 2 years of my initial product being offered online. Perhaps this info will help folks point me in the right direction.

I live in Tampa, Florida and would be very interested in establishing a relationship with a service provider who I could rely on for operational support issues.

Thanks in advance for your help.

And...thanks again to everyone for making this forum a treasure trove of knowledge and ideas!

Congratulations to you for completing your info product! Now you need to market your info product. You can use online marketing strategies such as article marketing, solo-e-zines, pay per click, joint ventures, seo, and social networking. You can market offline with direct mail, postcards, targeted magazine and newspaper advertising, and press releases.

      Doug,
I hope I am answering your question correctly!

I plan on putting the product up on a mini-site along with relevant SEO optimized content that will hopefully help me gain a favorable organic search position on Google, etc.

I also will contact several relevant blogs/forums and let them know about my product so they can review it and hopefully plug it to their users. The niche I am focusing on has a history of this - the owners of several blogs will voluntarily review products and if appropriate, declare that they are quality products worth the asking price.

I don't intend to pay for advertising at first. I plan on learning as much as possible with this first product so I can avoid costly mistakes.

I am willing to pay my dues and learn the science of internet marketing before I attempt to get into the "art" aspect.

As you can see, I am a rank newbie and I really don't know what I don't know regarding getting the mini-site created, who could create it for me in the local area, hosting, updating content, collection of money, etc.

Thanks to you and others who have responded.

      I truly appeciate the help!

Some answers to questions posted above.

Yes, this is my first information product and I am seeking to establish myself in a specific niche. I do have a long term approach in mind - I am not out for quick profits. My niche has a large base of potential customers that exists in good or bad economic times. My product is solid and a definite value add to the target population. Over time, I believe it will do quite well.

I had not heard of Kevin Riley. Thanks for alerting me to him and his site! Looks like he has some good info available!

Hopefully you made sure people were interested in buying such a product BEFORE you created it.

Then...I say...UNDERPRICE THE PRODUCT LIKE CRAZY. Will it hurt?
You bet. But you'll establish yourself as a trusted name in the niche super fast. Just make sure you get those buyers on your list and that's when the fun begins.

Hit em with affiliate offers, and your other products...learn how to create higher end products like membership sites and coaching programs and make your REAL money there.

Of course you'll need a sales letter and traffic to the letter.

So you'll need to learn about either SEO, PPC, JVs, Web 2.0 Traffic, blogging and pinging, other forms of paid traffic such as banners etc.

Pick your poison. Buy the best courses out there on the topic if necessary. Focus. And keep pushing, adjusting and improving until it's working for you.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice - it is greatly appreciated!

I have some questions regarding the technical/administrative aspects of selling an info product via a mini-site.

If I ask a developer to create a mini-site for me, does he deliver a fully functional website, including the auto-responder that sends the customer the PDF, the financial mechanisms to charge his credit card/PayPal account and deposit the money to my account?

Is a competent developer typically able to produce a fully functional mini-site or do several different people have to work on various parts of the site?

How much do fully functional mini-sites cost to create?

How much do they cost to maintain per month?

That's all I can think of for now!

Thanks again for the much appreciated help!
