Monetization - How Do I Make Money On My Site?

Hi,
I've seem to hit a wall here and I could use some pointers to get me going in the right direction. I have a site in a dating related niche with quite good traffic, +20k a month, but I don't really make a lot of money of the site.
I've tried Adsense, but the ctr and the pay per click were just too low. As you can see on the banners I try different affiliate offers, but they don't convert at all.

Here is the site: tinyurl.com/396tez8

So, do you have any ideas on how to make money on this site?
Or can you recommend one of the "gurus" who does some one-on-one coaching?

Best wishes and Merry Christmas to you all...

Good to see your building a list because this is essential. With 20k visitors a month you should be seeing some backend profits from your list, right?

    mmm...!

I find it very difficult to believe this site is not making much money if the figures you quote are accurate.

Just market to your list twice a month; I'd think you'd make more than enough.

i think 20k+ is a good visitors amount so you should not be tensed and keep searching for the best suitable CPA network. you must get success.

    Thanks for your comments.
@Garry: The figures are correct, 23k visitors within the last month.

Yes, I am building a list and yes, I do mail this list about 2-3 times a month, but so far conversions are practically zero. It should be noted though, that the list is still very new and small.

Perhaps it's because the site ranks for compliments - especially compliments guys can give to women. Could it be that these guys are not looking for online dating? I would have thought so...

You may get warriors who completely disagree with what I now advise but I can only comment and share with what works well for me.

Mailing your list 2-3 times a month is, in my opinion, a complete waste of time.

If you mail this infrequently then how can you build a relationship with your list? In the dating niche where your competition is fierce I think you need to be recognised by your subscribers. By the time your emails come through they've probably forgotten who you are. They've probably found several other experts to follow.

You don't need to send a promo out each time, if you find a free resource somewhere recommend it to your list. Send promos out because you need to make some money and it's a good way of filtering out the freebie seekers.

Keep the tone of the emails light, informal, helpful and mail fairly frequently (2/3 times a week - some weeks more if you have valuable info to share) and I think you'll build a cool relationship with your subscribers. When you write your emails always remember your subscribers are looking for solutions to their problems, the quicker the better.

      Garry.

Thanks for your advice and I think you are right about the frequency Garry.

Another problem I think, is that I try to cover too much ground... I've studied my visitor stats (again) and the fact is that the vast majority of my visitors (perhaps 75% or more) seems to be men looking for advice on how to compliment women. So instead of me giving advice and information all over the dating niche, I guess I should be focussing on the "guy wants to meet girl and know what to say to her"-angle - don't you agree?

Yeah. Your on-page SEO needs a bit of work. I'm no SEO or minisite expert (I'm learning it at the moment) as product creation is my thing, but I think your keywords definitely need to be more targeted towards your ideal prospect.

As for covering too much ground, just do one thing at a time dude. Slow and easy wins the race!

          Garry.
