optimisating website for more profit

I have a car buying tips site and rank pretty well for my keywords. I currently use adsense but would like to make more money. What would be the best way to optimise my site for max profit? I was thinking of placing a car quote or insurance quote box in the sidebar.

Is car buying tips a good niche to be in? I tried searching for someone who would be a potential buyer, but as you can see I went down the tips or advice road. Thanks in advance for any help.

    It is a very competitive niche.

    I gave it a run for two years and then quit it, but your experience likely is and could be different than mine.

    It is difficult to stand out in a niche with so many corporate competitors, but it does not mean that you could never be successful with it.

    Are you looking for more of a set it/forget it type revenue, or are you interactive in the industry?

    If you want to participate in the industry, and keep up on things, and keep creating content, you might think about building a list of people.

    If you're just in it for the low hanging fruit, utilize text ads, banner ads, and other forms of advertising on your site.

    You won't make as much that way, but it will be lower maintenance.

    You need to write compelling and persuaive copy for your site. Something that turn your visitor into customers, make them to buy, or suibscribe. Here's a book that I used and may help you with that. It is called Web Copy That Sells by Maria Veloso (you can get it hereyou can get it here )
