How to wirte a comparison on products you don't own?

I've just checked my analytics stats for my review site and it seems that a lot of people are finding me by searching for PRODUCT vs PRODUCT.

So, I assume, why not provide them with what they want? Then they'd convert much better, especially if I pushed a certain one of the two and exposed flaws of the other in a more biased way.

But how could you a write a decent comparison review comparing two high priced items when you've never owned either of them? :S

I'm thinking of outsourcing some review writers who know what they're doing, but I always like to do everything at least once before outsourcing

What about just getting the reviews off of amazon.

Get good reviews for the ones you want to sell and bad reviews for the other.

There are many ways to do a review. Yes the best way is to buy both products and compare them... but you know most people are just looking for a 1 on 1 comparison table. This one has feature 1, 2, 3 and it's competitor only has 1, 3, but it is half price.

I love comparison tables and I recommend that if they are selling a product they should compare theirs to the competition. Just make sure you put a disclaimer saying, they own all the brand, copyright etc and all information was from the website and accurate at time of publishing.

    I hope that helps,

How is it possible to write a review on something that you don't own or have access to? When you are searching for a review do you want to read a review from someone who hasn't actually used the product, whatever it is?

What's happened to giving your website visitors value?

When I buy a product that is important to me, I will spend hours doing research on the product. This involves getting the specs on the product and then finding as many reviews as I can, Since time is a valuable commodity and some either will not or cannot make a good survey of the product before buying, you can add value as an aggreagator of information.

-go to the OEM's website, read their product description, features list, specs, etc...
-go to sites like amazon, zdnet, cnet, and read reviews that other people have written.
-check any creditable blogs in the niche for reviews (and comments).
    -check forums in the niche

Try to stick to gathering data from non-objective sources, and don't use anything like EzineArticles or product review sites created by other internet marketers.

The idea is to gather a handful of facts and opinions on each product, and then use this data to synthesize your own perspective. Once you research enough, and get enough insight into the pros/cons of each product, your writing should come off as if you actually did own both of them.

It's not hard, just do your best to find the best data you can.

Who says the article can't be valuable? Research and reporting has always been a legitimate model for writing.

To answer your question, I have no problem reading a review that was written by someone who doesn't own a product. As long as it's well-researched, well-written, and provides solid information, I don't care if that person owns the product or not.
