Wordpress Help Please

Hi Warriors,

Got some problems with wordpress I was wondering if anyone would mind helping me out with.

When I try and create a new post or page in my new wp blog, none of the formating buttons on the "visual" tab of the editor show up.

I've tried reinstalling WP but get the same problem.

I am running WP fine on another older blog which seems to be also running on 3.0.3

Would love some help/ideas.

I'll also post a screenshot of this in a sec which should help convey what I mean.

Have you tried logging out, closing your browser, then logging back in?

      yes.

I've been using FireFox but might try using I.E
It's weird though that one of my older WP sites work. Its just this new one.

EDIT: Haha, it works in I.E . Looks like I'll have to use this browser for a bit then.

Check Users > Your Profile > Visual Editor, and see if the "Disable the visual editor when writing" box is checked.

If it is, uncheck it, and save... your problem should be resolved.

If it's not, try checking it, saving, going back and un-checking it, saving again, clear your cache, and restarting your browser.

If that doesn't do it, I would start troubleshooting your themes/plugins.

Make a backup of your /wp-content/themes/themename/ and /wp-content/plugins/ directories, then delete them.

Test and see if the problem is resolved

Go back and reinstall your theme, then test again

If things are still okay, go start reinstalling your plugins one by one, testing in between each installation.

I've done that but will need to look into futher details on getting it to work. Seems like a too complicated solution to what i think should be a simple problem.

      Thanks though.

Yeah, its not plugins (new blog with no plugins).

      Not the theme (basic theme)

Not the "visual editor" problem either.

Thanks for the try though I thought i might have accidently clicked the box after you told me that you could disable it.

Here is what it looks like in FireFox

Go to Tools -> Options -> Content and see if "load images automatically" is checked. If not, check it and save. (Ironically, mine works without that being checked.) You should also click the Exceptions button to see if anything is in there.

Yeah, I might have to do this.

Man, I would blame it on your computer/browser if you didn't say it works on another site running the same version.

When you reinstalled WP, did you use a script like Fantastico, or did you download/install from wordpress . org?

If the former, I suggest doing the latter. Sometime those scripts (specifically fantastico) can mess things up really good.

Manually delete the directory through your FTP client and manually delete your WP database through phpmyadmin (or equal)

Then, download WP from their website, create a new DB, and reinstall manually.

If that don't work, I'm at a loss

Hopefully, Istvan will chime in and help you out... if he can't do it, no can lol.

Yeah, it was through Fantastico, so I might try another script.

Looks like I'm going to have to give wordpress the FLick this time. Might be good to branch out.

On my part, I always reloading the page if I encountered something like this. And also if ever try to go to other browsers, example if you're on mozilla, try in internet explorer of in chrome, they have different settings you know.
