Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can create videos for my customers.. I don't really want to pay for Camtasia. Also, how do people stream these so that they load so well ? |

I've just written a post on my blog about creating screen capture videos and talk about 3 applications, Camtasia, Jing Project(Techsmith's lite software) and CamStudio.org I've been using Camtasia trial and plan on purchasing once it expires I need to be able to edit my videos. What problems have you had with videos loading, was it the video file type? Harry |

I've tried an old copy of Camtasia but it just seems complicated. I just want to click RECORD, and it records screen then export it as a decent quality for web viewing.... I'll have a look on your blog |

I use videowebwizard to convert to phenomenal streaming and easy to upload as it creates all the files including html to simply ftp up to your domain. I usually save the camtasia to .avi or .wmv - then convert to flv via the videowebwizard software - very easy to use and creates nice quality. If you don't need to use screen capture, windows movie maker is free, and creates pretty decent vids. You can use royalty free stock photos as content input for the videos. |

Cheers I'll check out Videowebwizard. Windows Mover Maker would be useful to add titles etc I guess. Cheers |

Look into the Jing Project which is very similar to Camtasia and is produced by the makers of Camtasia. You can find it at http://www.jingproject.com/ Mike Hill |

Just trying out Jing, it only exports as SWF ? Also, filesize is around 5mb for 3:30 minutes. Not very practical ? |

I like CamStudio. It's free and works really well.

I have tried TipCam, which is preety good. And unlike Jing, which saves the video in .swf format so that you can't load it to you tube, TipCam saves it in .flv format that can be uploaded to you tube. One problem with TipCam is that it wants to install its own video capturing software and vista doesn't like it too much. There are ways you can get around it though. Overall, I like it. There is also ScreenToaster which is a free service where you don't have to download or installation anything. However, you need to install Java plugin to your browser. Also, ScreenToaster supports multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux and MacOS. I have only heard about this but never used it. But I might. Hope this helps. |

As far as streaming the video goes, use You Tube. You know it works for everyone, and won't cost you a dime. It sounds like you aren't down with paying for stuff. Google loves YouTube and will give you better SEO as a result. If you're worried about people watching the video who didn't find it on your site, just give it a wacked out title that you know no one on You Tube would actually search. For instance, if your making a video about the Rich Jerk, call it R16k J3rk or something like that. No one will search for it, and no one will find it unless they go to your site. |

I'd love to use YouTube but these videos need to be private and needs to look professional - the 'wacked out title' idea is practical but a tad unprofessional! I'll continue having a play with CamStudio |

Just put it on your site with a free FLV player, password protect the html with .htaccess and you're golden |

I have no problems protecting it. I'll check out FLV player. Just need it to stream nicely. I should be using Amazons hosting for video really but don't want to spend much at the moment. |
