If you had $500 to spend on IM???

Hello Warriors,

Me & my hubby are newbies in here..... loving it!

I wanted to ask, with all the knowledge that you have now....

If you had to start all over in IM and you had $500 to spend, how would you spend it? What would you spend it on to make money?

I cant wait to hear these ideas

I'd use 50$ to grab a good basic system from someone with a proven track record.

Approx 50$ for the staples to get started (autoresponder + hosting + domain name)

Find another newbie who agrees to be my accountability partner, put 250$ at risk if I fail to follow through the plan daily for 30 days.

Save the rest to buy myself a treat at the end of that 30 days

I would first spend it on services and tools that could create products and deliver content to my future customers.

Ex: Webhosting, auto responder, PDF conversion tool and Dreamweaver or some form ofhtml editing software to update your websites. I would save the rest of the money and use the many free methods that are available on this forum.

Probably on some useful software like SEONuke or similar. Not worth spending it on info products when you can find all the info you need for free anyway.

Stop thinking and brainstorming and group discussing about spending all the money you got in order to make money. As long as you are in the spending mood, there is very little chance that you'll make any money. Believe me, once you spend all that money, you'll only be sad that you did.

If you really want to make any money, keep that $500 and think about reading some posts on how to earn instead of how to spend...

I can direct you to a thread that contains pages and pages of solid info on how to make money, which you won't learn from a $500 ecourse and did I mention it's free.

    Hope it helps...

I'd keep the 500 hidden for a couple months, use that time to decide ONE method to take action, search, research and re-research that ONE method, learn all I could from that ONE method and then I'd start my project using ONE method and:

    1. Common sense
    2. My brains
    3. free SEO tools
    4. a small network of free blogs (some of them rank better and faster then most of new domain names...)

Oh and the money? I'd keep that 500 bucks for a gift or something similar for my wife or kids.

Bottom line: For vast majority of people those $500 will turn into multiple headaches: ebooks, software, etc etc.

Just my 2 cents after teaching almost 200 newbies in my Adsense coaching.

P.S.: IF you choose to rank sites higher to make money, learn a LOT of SEO. You'll need it to save time and money.

Ahhh, so true. I think if you sit back and aren't under time pressure you can figure out what you are most drawn to. Once you have your "fit" you can put the $500 to better use. Most people will just waste it in their haste to make money without working or taking the time to impliment properly.

IM really comes down to two things. Writing skills and Marketing skills. I would purchase some proven books on marketing and writing on amazon. $100 would be more then enough if you go for 2nd hand...

If I had $500, knowing what I know now, I would keep it and not even get involved in IM! ...seriously! But I am involved and may be close to earning enough to say the 18-month effort leading up to now was worth it. Problem is, there is no way of knowing.

If I had to spend any portion of the $500, I would skip over any of the big name gurus and go with only warrior advice, and that too with a degree of caution. I'd spend at least 3 months up front looking into things before making any decisions.

Plan before you spend! Listen to the warriors! Avoid the big name gurus.

I'd buy $460 worth of booze and snacks, then create a bunch of freebie affiliate blogs, and drive traffic to them with free press releases, forum posts, and articles. Tally my results after a week or so, then whip up a WSO on how I made $X in a week, drunk off my keister, using only free methods...newbie friendly...no technical savvy needed...scalable...case study included...etc.

Edit: actually, I probably wouldn't do that at all. But it would probably turn a fine profit for me if I did.

      Hi Rande,

Welcome to WF and I am glad to see you're enjoying it - well, so am I!

$500 is a lot of money to spend on IM as a newbie!

Having said that, if I had 500 dollars to start off, I would go with a simple plan.

      1. Read and research as much as I can. As some of the other wise warriors have pointed out - you can get all the info for free; you just need to look in the right places.

      2. Start off with something specific (one particular niche) and buy a domain with my researched, low-competition keyword or just get a free blog!

      3. Work on it and build it - affiliates, ads - the works!

      4. Learn all about SEO and Google ranking system. (Actually this should be step one!)

Just don't listen to anybody dishing out SEO wisdom! Read the sites and blogs of IM gurus.

And yeah - have fun during the whole thing!

      Best of luck.

      See you around.

It would be a lot easier to answer this question if you were already knowledgeable & experienced in a specific branch of IM. Without knowledge and experience, it's very likely that you wont be able to succeed. If it were me, I'd spend my time and money getting more educated about a specific branch of IM. A good starting point would be learning some SEO skills. Those skills translate across all branches of IM.

I would hire John Schwartz or Steven Wagenheim for coaching.

If you're relaxed and groovy, hire John.

If you're intense and workaholic, hire Steven.

Take that $500 and put it directly in the hand of someone who is ALREADY SUCCESSFUL at doing what you want to do. Spend an hour or so with them and ask as many questions as you can.

That will be the best investment you could ever make.

The rest including methods, techniques, software and so on, will be a complete waste of time, effort and money, until you do this.

If I had that big money, I will use it in business. Half of it will be on online business like online marketing. And half of it will be use in creating a business of my own.

I will then buy SEO tools to help me advertise my websites.

    Great Responses!

I am actually getting clearer and clearer direction now, been working on my mud map for 2011. Trying to set up some good habits, to make things as easy as possible for me.

Got a good idea to brand ourselves, currently setting up some affiliate clickbank products to promote and just looking for the third aspect and waiting to hear back bout that. IF everything only 1/2 works it should still be an income for my family and in the meantime I will record my journey and make a great ebook for sale about how to quit your day job......ingenious I know....LOL
