From Word Doc to Wordpress or Blogger

So often when I have an article writer make something for me, they deliver a word doc which contains formatting and images. Any recommendations of going from doc or docx to blogger or wordpress? Is there a simple way that doesn't involve a lot of manual work to move the images and formatting?

But what about the images embedded in the doc?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

You can upload a word doc formatted post straight to wordpress (not sure about blogger though) either in draft or publish format.

It's an add-on in word which you set up for each wordpress blog you own.

It will move the images as well - even if you format them with drop shadow and the like...

If this is what you mean I could check the name and settings etc and get back to you. Let me know.

If you use Word 2007 > Office Button > Publish > Blog

You'll need to register your blog but it's pretty straight forward.

Thanks, I may just spend $149 for office for that. I haven't had it installed on my computer for a couple of years.

It's a neat function, but it makes a mess of the code, IMO. Rather than letting WordPress handle the formatting according to your internal stylesheet, it overrides those settings and uses <span> tags to format every paragraph.

Totally agree with you there. I don't use the function much myself for that reason, but for me I go in and find typos so have to edit and that's what I can't stand to do after I've uploaded via word - too much junk code. In regards to this post though I was just giving a solution to the request really.

That said I recently lost my entire WYSIWYG editor in visual mode on one of my sites and the upload from word was the only way to get stuff up in a half decent fashion. Thank goodness my editor is back to normal now.

Mine vanished one day, too! Absolutely no reason, and the tab was still there, just all the buttons were missing. Weird.

Tell them send it as a .rtf or .txt, preferably .txt cause it has no formatting at all!

Ever thought of just training your contractors to deliver the content in the right format that is easiest for you?

If they refuse, just tell them you will pay them in Algerian Dinars and they can easily convert it over to their currency of choice. After all, its all money, right?
