Internet Marketing buzzwords

I absolutely laugh when I hear the words "mindset" and "leverage".

They're such over used buzzwords. What other ones do you cringe at? Do we really need to make this game so sleazy and be like used car salesmen? I prefer to take a casual approach to things. I don't care about gurus or mentors. However what I do realize is that "In every man is my superior in that I may learn from him"

Which means that everybody knows a little something about something that you may not know and you will learn from him/her. So don't think you know it all, even the smallest man has knowledge about something.

So anyway if you've been so caught up in the buzzwords and all the hype. Come down from the clouds....and I'll be right here on the ground. Anyone else feel the same?

Hi, I'm Jennifer.

My feet are firmly on the ground but I still love both those words.

To me they make sense in the context I personally use them and I can relate when others use them (regardless of their guru/or non guru standing) and it isn't so much about someone having their head in the clouds it's just the words that make someone click/tick. Those two words do for me.

If they don't for you that's cool. But I do agree 'everyone' knows something. I most definitely don't claim to know everything just because I use those words.

No I wasn't saying they were mutually exclusive. It's just that everyone is trying so hard to be the next guru and make a 6 figure income and I'm just Jen. Just Jen who is making things happen. Not because of my mindset or leverage or any other IM jargon babble. Just Jen.

Anyone else who wants to be themselves instead of trying to follow someone else's path feel free to PM me. We'll chat.

Oh I gotcha. I totally understand what you mean. It's all good. I can totally relate to what you've just said.

Your mindset is helping you to succeed whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Having the proper mindset doesn't mean you're not being yourself, it means believing in yourself. It means believing you, too, can make things happen. It means you believe you deserve the fruits of your labor. If you don't believe those things, you will struggle trying to succeed in any endeavor.

I address "mindset" in one or two of my products. The reason I do is because I think it will give some people a better chance to succeed. Not everyone has the benefit of self-confidence. Not everyone has the benefit of a healthy sense of self-worth. Not everyone understands what apparently comes to you easily. These people deserve to be helped to the extent we are able. Sometimes that means addressing their mindset.

In fact, I'd speculate that as many people fail in this field because of their mindset as those who fail because of a lack of skill or knowledge.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I like mindset and leverage. Intelligent words.

The words that I find overused are words like
    Cash Sucking
    Secret(s) Revealed
    Dominate (your keyword here)
    Not $597, not $497, not even $397 ... today only, just $7
    (keyword) Exposed!

You get the idea. But I see nothing wrong with following in the path of successful people. Rather do that than follow in the path of unsuccessful people. I've learned a lot from successful people on this forum and I do things my own way, but using information that I have learned.

There is nothing wrong with following successful people but why put them on a pedestal like the word "guru" conveys. I'm sure I could learn some tricks from everyone. Not just so-called gurus.

I don't follow the well known Gurus or refer to people as gurus. There are marketers I respect and some ... not so much. Some that I respect have fairly big names in the IM industry because they have earned those names. Some don't have big names, but provide outstanding products. Some brand new to the IM industry have surprised me with great products. A guru is just a teacher. Anyone can be one who has something to teach.

Haha I loved this and actually the 'secret revealed' on my sig is a little mock at the people who use that term - in my own humorous way though. I'm so glad you put that in there.

    "Hands Free"

I always thought that was a term used to describe devices one used to avoid talking on a cell phone whilst driving, not making money online

Yea, I hate the word "leverage" too. Also I dislike sales pages with the money money money easy money theme (but it works...I know, I know!) and I especially hate those videos that load automatically, long videos that I can't tell the length of when I'm on the page.

It's just so arrogant to hog the viewers time.

Another phrase "I'm not telling you this to impress you, but to impress upon you....."
Grrr. Maybe I'm just getting old and crotchety
