Using the WF as a Research Tool...

I spend waaaaay too much time in here, but the threads and the replies are so valuable it's worth it!

I tend to avoid the IM niche because it's tough to crack and the competition is fierce. But assuming you were in that niche, even a cursory analysis of the recent posts in the general forum is an education in itself.

If you're marketing to the IM crowd, just studying the posts in here and just applying a few of the free things are enough to start a business.

Forums are a great place for market research to find a topic that you will cover in your next product.

Look for common questions that come up over and over, then provide the marketplace with the answers.

@ouroboros - I agree. The WF is the only forum I frequent anymore. Plenty of good insights to be had here. I've heard a lot of people use the same niche/topic strategy for Yahoo Answers.

I admit, drawn ideas from posts in the SEO forum for content ideas for my own website.

All the Warrior Forum Blogs is more than enough to form an internet marketing knowledgebase or encyclopedia.

    I bookmarked most of them.

All the resources I have got here has given the confidence that it's too late for me to fail in IM.

To me, the resources here are not just enough to start a business but they are more than enough to succeed in a business and also sustain the success.

The forum is great for coming up with product ideas, and
    learning about marketing.

You do need to be careful NOT to assume that forum
members are your typical customers. They're probably
not. There may be similarities, but WF is a terrible
place for things like price testing... and probably even
    testing copy.

Great advice, Willie. It's so easy to mistakenly assume that anything that converts well here will also do the same outside of this forum.

Pricing is usually way off base (much lower here), and sales letters tend to convert better outside of this marketplace for the most part if they have more graphics, nice headers and/or video (such as what is found on your average Clickbank product).

Also Don't assume they all know what they are talking about! Or that they don't have a hidden...or not so hidden agenda

    Good point sir,

WF is not your typical customer unless you are in the IM niche. But could you argue that it is not the perfect demographic for the colective IM niche?

      Steve,
But could you argue that it is not the perfect demographic for the colective IM niche?
Yes, you could argue that it's not. And you'd be right.

"IM" is not a niche. It's a label for a whole bunch of niches and sub-niches. Each forum or advertising channel within a market has its own culture and attracts different people. If you don't believe this, go to Alexa.com and type in the names of a number of different forums and look at the demographic tab. In the IM market, for example, the differences are pronounced.

Even different lists that are publicly promoted and free tend to cater to different groups. My subscribers, for example, tend to be older than most IMers, and a fairly high percentage of them are in niches that one wouldn't usually associate with the term "IM." A lot of retailers, real estate professionals and authors in the group.

Look at the WSO section, and see which headlines work here. They would absolutely not work with my subscribers. That's not a criticism, mind you. Just an observation on the concept of writing for your market.

There is no typical profile for an "IMer." The label covers far too many people, with differing goals, cultural expectations, and business models. The Warrior Forum is typical of one thing: The Warrior Forum. We're not better or worse than other groups, by any objective standard. Just different.

      Differences are what make markets.

For more information on exactly how best to use the WF for research purposes, look up Michael Oksa he had a great WSO with very concise step by step video instructions on using some unknown features in the WF and learning to create products. Definitely worth the money.
