Can Clickbank payee name be a pen name?

I want to sell an ebook on Clickbank under my pen name. Can this be the payee name
or do I have to register a business name which I prefer not to do. I want to use the pen
name to sell my ebook on Amazon also, but don't want to use a business name at Clickbank
and pen at Amazon to promote the same ebook.

thanks

Do you have a bank account under the pen name or the same last name? If not than no you can't.

Agreed!!! btw, no harm disclosing your name to cb as it's confidential and doesn't get shown to your customers or affiliates.

Sorry, but this really isn't quite right.

The name displayed to customers on the order confirmation page comes from the "Payee Name" field in Clickbank's account opening form, which is the same name to which Clickbank addresses checks. Whatever the name in which you have the bank account (whether as an individual or a business entity, incorporated or otherwise) into which you intend to pay your Clickbank checks, that name is shown to customers.

So, yes, it can be a pen-name, Jill, from Clickbank's perspective - but you would need to have a bank account in the same name.

      Agree..

Clickbank Checks MUST be cleared under the same name written on the check and your Bank Account Name..

The best solution is simply to file for an LLC with LegalZoom.com.

Just fill out the paperwork, give Clickbank your Tax ID number, open a business account for the LLC, and you're good to go. Your CB checks will be made out to the LLC name, and LLC income is taxed just like personal income.

Also, rather than naming your LLC after your specific product or website (i.e. Truth About Abs, LLC), I would give it a generic name, like Quality Answers, LLC, or Such-and-such publishing, LLC. That will allow you to use the same payee name and business account for all of your Clickbank products.

    That's what I do.

      +1 To this

When I was experimenting in CPA marketing I just used my business' tax ID. Much easier, especially when trying to hide your name.

It may depend on where you are. Are you in the U.S. or outside the U.S.?

If you're in the U.S., you'll probably want to check with your local bank and/or county auditor and/or your Secretary of State's office. You may be able to file a fictitious business name to use your pseudonym, whereby you would be Jill Smith dba Jane Doe. Then, you should be able to deposit checks made out to Jane Doe in your business account with your bank.

You may not even need to go through the trouble of setting up an LLC if you otherwise don't need or want to do so.

    Jill,

If you have the option of receiving payment weekly via bank wire rather than paper check, your business name can actually be anything you want it to be. Like Paypal (for Canadians), your business name doesn't have to be the same business name that you use at your actual Canadian bank.

If you are accepting paper checks, then your payee name needs to either match up to your personal or business account here in Canada, otherwise they won't cash it.

Actually, I think Clickbank changed this in the last month or so.

Now, when you purchase, a customer is shown the vendor email address but NOT the vendor name (payee name). It used to be both - but for some reason now it's just the vendor email that is revealed.

Confirmed! Just went through some CB receipts and he's right - no vendor name, vendor e-mails only. Cool.

You would need you bank account to have the same name in order for this to work.

I dont think you can get DBA accounts in the UK though...

However I have accidentally cashed cheques in names of my family members with one bank... which was fine but also a little worrying :-(

      I have one, hello ...

It's called TA, here ("trading as", instead of "doing business as" - with some banks, anyway).

I opened it at my local high street bank where I had my current account with no problem at all, just had to fill in a form or two ...

I see ... interesting: it must vary from bank to bank, then. (I'm with Santander, formerly "Abbey").
