Should you carry insurance for your internet business

If you have web site, even if you don't use ecommerce, should you carry insurance to cover any liabilities like E&O or plagiarism (not that I would ever commit plagiarism, but anyone can accuse anyone of anything, right?) I'm thinking of either starting a niche website or selling plr articles on my particular niche. I want to know if I need to be concerned with liability issues and the best way to mitigate them.

Thanks.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

My insurance guy says yes but he thinks the world is out to get him and he sees disaster everywhere. Five minutes with him and you'll think the world is out to get you, too.

I don't think most people need it to be honest but it would depend on what you are doing and your tolerance of risk. For a site like what you have in mind it might not be a bad idea and it is probably very cheap.

    Brea,

First of all, welcome to the Warrior Forum.

That's a very interesting question. You may want to talk with your insurance agent. You might find that there is a certain amount of liability coverage with your homeowners policy.

If you are making money with your Internet business, that might involve a different type of insurance.

Let us know what you find out.

    Happy New Year,
