Facebook Fan Pages - are these still effective?

I heard this strategy about creating fan page and promoting products but I found out that facebook now is very strict on sending friend requests... I can't send request for new accounts more than 20... Ids this thing still working? Thanks

Yeah man still working and going strong. Try get people to add you, instead of you adding them. Post on mafiawars groups and you'll wake up with 1000 friend requests

Remember a Facebook fan is worth twice as much as an email subscriber.

Really? Is this something you have actually seen or something you have heard?

I must be doing FB wrong, because I have seen the exact opposite. Maybe I need to revisit my FB approach.

I have two major issues with your response.

#1 - Why would posting a message in a Mafiawars group do me any good in my weight loss niche?

#2 - Where is the proof a Facebook fan is worth twice as much? Does it have anything to do with the fact you are currently promoting a WSO on Facebook promotions? Things that make me say hmmmmmmm....

Thanks// I think mafiawars works better than adding unknown people directly....

Worth twice as much in what way? If its in profits, is this sustainable? If so, that would be very cool.

Yeah it's working like gangbusters for us. Sure it takes awhile to build up and you gotta do it right but it's gold.

Is there something your recommend as the right way to do it? An approach, a blueprint or a guide?

I'd like to improve my results.

The thing about Facebook Fanpages is that it's like another WF(for a lack of analogy).

If you have people posting on your walls, saying good things about you and your product, wouldn't it be 5 times more effective than you having a testimonial on your sales page which most people are still skeptical of?

    Just my 2 cents worth

Barry - Too funny, I just read your LIMOM post.....OMG that is hilarious!!!!

Regarding Facebook Fanpages, I'll be the first to admit I don't have one yet and am dumbfounded on how to take advantage of them. I feel like there is an opportunity in front of me but I have yet to grasp how to effectively utilize it so any real/true recommendations on helpful products or sites would be greatly appreciated.

I'd take an email subscriber over a Facebook Fan.

In fact my goal is to get them to opt-in to an email list at some point from my Fan Page...but I do like the fact that Fans can attract other fans...can't do that with a list.

A good email campaign is hard to beat for sales.

Gotta agree with you on that one Rusty.

Emails are more personal and definitely converts better.

But then again, you can always email a link of your fanpage to your list to remind them that the fanpage's still there and let them spread the word for you!

Works for me, so you can try

I think it was a generalization. Post in appropriate group that fits your niche.

And who's to say some Mafiawars players wouldn't like to lose some weight as well. Some of them would also like to know how to pick up hot chicks so they don't to spend their nights alone playing mafiawars.

Why settle for a single niche when you can hit a potential customer with several things that hits their wants and needs button.

If you're driving people to a fanpage and adding them as fans then you're better off throwing an opt-in form on the fanpage to get them on your list (rather than just having them as fans) so you're not dependent on FB in case you get shutdown for whatever reason.

TimG-- I have several ads going that are driving people to a lander whcih happens to be an FB fanpage instead of off FB to another site-- Facebook loves it and approves ads more frequently, and you keep people on FB since they are probably there for other reasons then to give you money, but happen to be interested in your offer while browsing FB. I get many opt-ins per week for my local biz clients just from the form on the fanpage.

Thanks for the info. I saw a really neat FB Fanpage setup yesterday and actually did opt-in to become a fan. The setup was good and I was interested in the information. Now my problem becomes how to create the same for myself.

I have seen a lot of reports from IM magazines and blogs stating that Facebook fans are worth twice as much. Try searching up in Google.

Obviously as an Internet Marketer we wouldn't target weightloss products to MafiaWars players. But a MafiaWars clickbank product works like a charm. There are a lot of ways.

Think outside of the box friends!

      Hi Guys,

tgeo has got in 1, FBFP is a perfect 2 click wonder, FB never miss a trick and it for those who can see the wood amongst trees that can see white elephant in the room.

Combine the FP with op-tin with say a Video, MP3, ebook etc and presto your subscribers will come from close and far.

Truth be told look at how some of the top companies as well as top IM marketers are setting up their FP with use of it to offer something a simple call to action no brainier and thats just 1 reason it makes sense as well as the obvious others such as:

      • Personal / Product Branding
      • Split Testing
      • Buzz Marketing
      • Linking the wheel concept
      • Product Promotion
etc, etc this list is endless.

There's some great info here, guys, so thanks for sharing.

I've had little luck with Facebook fan pages in the past, but it's because I didn't really put much effort into growing it. It's like anything with IM or social media... Yeah, there are tricks, but you've got to put in the time or else you won't get results.
