Facebook Pages VS Website

Hi, I searched around but couldn't find much on this...So I have made some websites for buisness owners, but I have often been told "Well, we are on facebook - we don't really need a website". So how can I convince them otherwise? I'm not a great marketer, just making some cash for university. I'm good at websites though. Thanks in advance.

What are their needs? Why do they want to be on FB only and not have a presence?

The one advantage of a site would be the ability to drive traffic to the site. They can't build a list of email addresses on FB, and although they can have a following, if they promote an offer to their FB fans, they need to direct them somewhere.

The right word is not to "convince" them. They need to convince themselves. You simply show them a source of pain they have not realized until you pointed it out.

      Maybe Facebook works for them.

It might be that you need some other businesses to ask. This is just an objection in th esales process, but if you are really a web developer more than a salesman then maybe you just need to find some people who want websites.

Think about the needs of an offline business owner. They aren't the same as an internet marketer.

Just think about each business and how a website can be a benefit.

The number one reason is probably information. Where are they located, what is their phone number, what are their hours and any additional information for that specific business.

The number two reason is google local listings. They will always trump a facebook page in SE listings. If the business wants to be found online and be at the top of the page, they will need a website.

Why dont you first try to make a facebook pages that will be suit on thier taste/interest.
Like, a facebook page with a intruction / step by step move on how will you earn money. Post thier some proofs, and because of that, they will trust you. Then after, you will also earn from the referal made by you. Got the point? Have a nice day

I mean, there is only so much one can do on a FB page. I say list the advantages of what they can do with a website and show them that.

Market them by saying a website is their real identity. A page in a facebook is like a stall in a fair (ignoring the time limit) and the website is like their real Business address.

This forum thread on a Church Website and Facebook gives some of the disadvantages of having Facebook as your main site.

Hi, this is a very good point, I will use it in my argument, as local listings is important.

Yes, professionalism is another good point. Perhaps a viewer of a website will be more trusting than a viewer of a fb page, especially with all the spam on most pages.
