Best way to convert .wav to mp3?

You can also use Audacity Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder which is open source cross-platform and allows a wide variety of sound editing options if / when you need it.

Just be sure to d/l the needed "Lame" plugin and install it as follows: Audacity: How do I download and install the LAME MP3 encoder?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'blocked' but try the following:

Open Audacity and open a .wav file for editing.

Try exporting the file as an .mp3 file and you should be prompted the first time to navigate to and locate the lame.dll file.

On my Dell 64bit Win7 Home Premium laptop the file is located in the Program Files (x86) directory in the Lame Program directory.

On a 32bit system you should only have the standard c:/Program Files/Lame directory to contend with.

Kirk, I'm not sure what you mean by "blocked" - is your Antivirus/Firewall blocking the download of the Lame file somehow? Audacity should automatically prompt you for the Lame download and tell you what to do next. If you could describe your issue in more detail, we'll definitely be able to help you further.

You might want to google DVD Videosoft. It's free and does a lot of conversions. Not sure if it will work for what you want.

Windows has a Audio file converter Built in what ya do is create a few folders one for old files & one for new ones then open the old file with windows media player right click then open with ,,, hit stop if it plays then at the top of the page is Rip it allows you to rip / Convert most any audio file from one format to another just choose the location you want the file to go & what format Etc it's pretty simple if I can Do it Most anyone can ? LoL
