Clickbank Tracking Problem Solved - Once & For All

Warriors,

If you've been on this forum for any amount of time, I'm sure you have come across the countless threads from both Clickbank vendors AND affiliates complaining about large inconsistencies in their statistics and sales.

Based on the increasing amount of threads and replies, it appears this issue is getting worse. Is there a REAL problem - who knows? At this stage it is all speculation. (I want to be very clear on that!)

There have been a number of people who have since set up third party tracking on their sites and have come to the conclusion that Clickbank's statistics are not an accurate indication of what is actually happening.

(And if you've ever tried contacting Clickbank about this very issue, not only do they take days to reply, but their response is always the same old standard message.)

Let me first say, I am NOT against these threads. If there is a problem then I believe it needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. What I can't stand is the continual barrage of threads and replies complaining about the same problem over and over yet never getting closer to any kind of solution.

This is REAL money we are talking about. In many cases this money is relied upon by honest people who need it to pay their living expenses on a daily basis. If there is so much confusion surrounding this very topic, then I believe Clickbank owes it to their vendors AND affiliates, to have a 3rd party company come in and do an audit of their whole tracking process and their statistics for the last half a year.

Then, and only then, will this issue be resolved. If this were a one off case then I wouldn't be writing this thread. But there are far too many people now complaining about the same problem that I feel something needs to be done about it - sooner rather than later.

So here's what I want from you.

If you have experienced any genuine inconsistencies with your Clickbank statistics, please outline your concerns below. You may also want to include some screenshots if available. You don't need to show your Clickbank or hop ids at this stage, all we are looking for are the inconsistencies in numbers.

Hopefully if there are enough genuine concerns raised in this thread, we can encourage Clickbank to take some further action and help put everyone's minds at ease once and for all.

    Norb,

Thanks for the comments. Definitely food for thought. I just put this thread together to help get all the problems and complaints in one place - hopefully that way we can collectively see whether there really is need for further investigation or not. I agree that every system has their problems however it seems to be Clickbank that gets the most air time in these forums - as to be expected. They are one of the biggest affiliate networks in our industry.

Let's wait and see what others have to say. Thanks again.

Like Norb, I've also pushed some big numbers through Clickbank, both as a vendor and as an affiliate. (Not quite as big as Norb's though) Through the years I've noticed many weird patterns in my numbers and conversions. In the beginning I assumed it was something on Clickbank's end. However, for the last few years I've been tracking my traffic very closely on several of my sites. And any weird patterns I notice anymore can almost always be traced back to something Google is doing.

And if you're not tracking your traffic then you'd never know it. There may be times when you're ranking in the google serps with keywords you didn't even know about. And with the way google is constantly tweaking their algorithms - plus the constant influx of sites to the internet, you could be on top w/ a keyword one day, and no where to be seen the next. - And if you're not tracking your traffic, it would be easy to blame these weird shenanigans on Clickbank.

That being said, I have thought of ways that I could easily skim profits If I worked at Clickbank - and not be caught by tracking. - So I honestly wouldn't mind them bringing in a 3rd party to do an audit. - The logistics of that though seem tricky. How do you hire a 3rd party company without seeming biased toward the company you hired? - And if you have secret proprietary coding, how can you have it properly inspected without the risk of it's secrecy being compromised?

We are seeing some very strange inconsistencies as an affiliate.

On one of our sites, the numbers vary between $500+ a day down to $100.

The traffic volume and sources remain the same, right down to the exact keyword.

It goes in weekly cycles as well which is even stranger.

    Week 1 $500 or so a day.
    Week 2 $100 or so a day

Not exactly like that but close.

We monitor the 6 primary keywords responsible for all the traffic, our positions are always the same.

It's extremely hard to pinpoint the issue.
