Okay, so I've managed to get my hands on a really short, easy-to-remember-and-type-in domain name in the "Work From Home" niche. My plans are to develop it into a squeeze page and build a list. I figured since it IS so short, and therefore easy to include in printed material, it would be a wasted opportunity not to promote it offline. Still, I've never done that before, so I'm looking for ideas. Placing classified ads in physical newspapers is one idea. I thought about getting pens printed with the website address - you can get them for as little as 8 cents. Then there are fliers, business cards, etc. What would be some other ways? Thanks in advance for your brilliance! |

If you speak to groups be sure to mention it. You could do good deeds for people and leave a card: "This act of kindness from xxxx.com" Your strategy should depend a little on what you're selling from your website...you want whatever methods you use to target your ideal prospects. Hi, Offline can work great, but it's normally more expensive, so be sure to take advantage of the online options that are more cost effective first. (forum marketing, blogging, ppc, ezine advertising, software creation, etc.) One very effective offline technique is to simply place a classified ad for 'work at home' with a phone number. (keep it simple to build curiosity!) The phone number should be a free (for you) voicemail with a recording pointing them to your squeezepage for a free... You can run an ad in craigslist as well doing the same thing, but I think the offline will bring more believability. ~Mike Cowles. <>< Try it out. |

| Melanie, Why don't you try signing up at meetup.com. They have a lot of social events that you can attend where you can promote your website. Why don't you sign up for a few events that are related to the work at home business theme. Jeff |

Classified ads work okay, but they are very short-term, since most newspapers are published on a daily basis. From my sources, monthly magazines are the best place to place to offline ads. You can place full-page ads in international magazines for $2k-$3k or half-page ads for $1k+. For small results and testing, you can buy classifieds in these monthly magazines and they are usually decently cheap. One source for buying offline ads online is through Google Print Ads. They will hook you up with publications. Fabian |

Usually offline marketing is just a bunch of screaming in your prospects face, and it really annoys them. If you think about it, when was the last time you saw a flyer that said "work at home" and stopped to really read it, let alone take action and go to it's website? It takes too much energy for prospects to do so, unless there is something really motivating them to go on. If your website is truly amazing, than offline marketing shouldn't be done. Word of mouth will pass your website around. |

How about you just advertise where there is traffic? There is a ton of it in LA... so put it near the subways or somethin. You could go into businesses and see if they'd let you advertise. Whatever you do... advertise where the traffic is. The 405? Yesssim. |

Wow, more great ideas. You guys are awesome! I am definitely going to be implementing some of these - probably after the holidays. I know offline advertising is more expensive and riskier, but I really like trying and learning new things, and I never invest more than I can stand to lose in something new, so I figure - why not? I love these ideas! |

To be honest, I don't think it's worth the effort. By advertising offline, what you're doing is using extra effort for minimum returns. Whereas, if you spend the same amount of time driving free targeted traffic to your websites online, it would pay off much better. And this is also long-term traffic that will build-up more and more over time. |
