what free wordpress plugins do you use

Assuming that you create sites using the wordpress platform I was wondering what you use in the way of free plug-ins to help optimise your site and setup your site structure.

What I use:

  • Contact form 7 - used on my contact page as standard on all sites
  • Really simple Captcha - used in conjunction with contact form 7
  • All in one SEO - the optimise title and descriptions on individual pages
  • Exclude pages from navigation - just what it says
  • Google XML Sitemaps - auto generates site-maps and updates them
  • WP Spam-free - to help eliminate spam comments

These are used on most sites I create as a basic set-up. I do deploy other plug-ins but thy are paid for.

What free plug-ins are you using and would recommend?

    All in one seo is the most important free plugin that I use, followed by askimet.

    Other than that the plugins will vary depending on the project.

          Most of us don't blog regularly and that is why `Date` on your blogpost annoyess us. To avoid this I use `date exlussion seo` pluggin. All in one and other plugins are common.

            Cant say i've come across this one before, I usually have an option in the templates I use to turn it off

              Just search `date` at your dashbord plugin section and you will find it at forth or fifth place. It is easy to use.

      Agreeing with the regular backup mention. I unfortunately learnt this the hard way some time ago but have since learnt from my mistake.

      Depending on how often my content is updated I do a least once per month. More if regular content in added

    This list consists of the ones I use most often, although sometimes I use Grunion Contact form instead.

    One, I would add to your list though that is very important for me is "easy privacy policy" which as you might guess instantly creates a privacy policy page . . .

    Aweber Super Simple is another great free one for Aweber users. This will add a checkbox to your comment registration that will allow users to subscribe to your list . . .

    I stopped using Aweber, so I now use Digi List Builder (paid plugin) to do this.

      not surprised but is interesting. I dont always use paid plugins as there are enough free ones to get by. Some paid ones however do add alot of use.
