Can Anyone Update Me On Travel Affiliate Programs?

Hi,

I just heard that as of January 2009 - as per IATA's new rules - travel agencies will no-longer be entitled to agency commissions. Is this also going to affect online affiliate programs related to air ticket sales? Does anyone know anything about this?

I would appreciate your feedback.

Anthony

You could contact your affiliate manager.

I'm not in an affiliate program, yet. Was thinking of joining one. I was in the travel trade for 10 years, the whole town where I live are aware of what's going on here. But I'm not too sure if this applies to affiliate programs as well. Hence the question.

Thanks for the pointer on my avatar - an image of Tyson Beckford - SUPERMODEL - I thought as much actually but couldn't be bothered to change it. Well, thanks to you, I just did! Cheers.

Travel agencies will no longer get commissions? Huh? So that means travel agents will be a thing of the past? That doesn't sound right to me. Please explain more or give a news link if possible.
