Importance Of Domain Name

Can anyone tell me if it is better to put the full keyword phrase in the domain with added words or a fancy domain that sounds good but only has one of the keywords.

For eg

Code:
www.dogtrainingplace.com
or

Code:
www.dogteacher.com
My site will be selling a product which will also have a trial membership that they can extend. I might even give privileges for my members if I decide to put them on a free forum.

Thanks

I think that a fancy name that sounds good would be better.

Google is a fancy name, and now it's one of the most known websites in the world

      Hi,

Branding is very important if you want the website to stay around for a while.

thebestfreebooksontheplanet.com for example is not very memorable or brandable. I think shorter the better and something catchy and memorable if possible.

      Thanks

It can help in some ways, such as with branding, but, based on some experiments I've run, you can have a domain with no keywords in the name rank very well in Google if you have good links with the right anchor text pointing toward it.

For example, I have a domain that's a person's name, like johnbdoe.com, that's ranking well for a particular product. It's not a very competitive keyword and it only has maybe 100 uniques a day, but it's #1-#3 in Google for the product name and several related long terms. But, just sitting there untouched with 5 pages of content and related eBay ads it's made about $200 this month.
