Help - Anyone know why this happened?

Ok - so I created a new website based around what I thought was a low competition keyword.

Last week when I bought the domain and started building I went to Google prior to buying the domain and type my keyword in quotes " " in Google and there were like 12,000 pages. Now, today, there are like 120,000 when I type the keyword in " ".

This happened to anyone else before?

    You may have logged into 2 different versions of the Google database. That does happen sometimes.

    Actually it happens a lot and is one of the biggest reasons why you should not buy domain names from inside a keyword research program.

      I've noticed some pretty weird results using Google and even the keyword tool lately. The numbers just don't sound right, for example low competition for some highly competitive keywords using "quotes". Come back another day and it's more realistic.

    Is it possible its the broad match vs exact match results? Thats a huge difference.

      It seems like all of the research tools have been a little goofy lately. I'm really getting cautious now when doing keyword research.

      I use MNF and the other day when I checked out SOC for a term it came up green. I checked the competing pages and it was over a million results. Jumped over to Google to have a look and the numbers for competition were less, but the whole page was PR 5's and PR 6's. I've also had the same results as you and sometimes the exact match has been higher than
      broad.........Freaky!
