Why does Ezine Article need personal info?

Looks like to join they need address/phone number...

Why does an article directory need all this personal info. for if all you're doing is uploading articles?

Also is a photo mandatory in the author profile/bio?

EZA likes to send out little goodies to its authors...especially if they are proficient writers which is why they need your address.

Having been with them since 2005 I can assure you they are not using the information for immoral means. In fact, I can't recall ever receiving a phone call from them but I have gotten lots of goodies in the mail.

Probably paranoia getting the better of me. In this era of identity theft, I would think giving out less of your personal info on the web is a better policy.

It may also be to protect themselves in the event of a lawsuit because of something one of the authors write.

Hi Tim,
What do you mean by using their directory properly?
I submit articles and I am seeing some traffic from them, but is there something I'm missing with this to get my articles in front of more readers?

EZA has sent me some cool stuff in the mail. Stuff I didn't expect to get. I uploaded my photo and wwite enough articles that I have a number of top author rankings.

I believe this helps my article views. Maybe it does or not, but it sure is nice to get the recognition.

And when I tell potential clients that want to know if I am any good at doing things on the internet, I can always point them to my top author link. That is a nice benefit as well.

Writing and submitting articles to them puts you above probably 80% of what other marketers are doing but to get into the above average (top 20%) or elite status (top 10%) you need to focus on several variables that can determine the success or failure of your article. They include the following:

Article Title
Article summary
Article Body - For example I always use my keyword phrase in the first sentence.
Article Resource Box

All of those determine how many page views your article receives and how much traffic arrives to your website.

Take a quick look at the expert authors and click on each of their links where you will see the ratio of articles submitted to page views.

It does you no good to have 20,000 published articles on EZA if they can only generate 200,000 page views.

I understand your concern - but there is another side to consider. When you are using a site you don't own to place your articles - giving information about yourself is part of a partnership as I see it. Same is true for Google adsense or clickbank or other affiliate programs where you must give personal information if you want to be paid.

Knowing who you are provides protections for that site.

Great point. If EZA was asking for SSN then I would be more concerned about info of that nature. I still am for some programs I initially decide to become an affiliate for until I see they don't have a secure site when you start inputting confidential information.

That's what most people do but I prefer to add a bit more sizzle and put a call to action in the summary/abstract because I want people to read my article instead of everyone else that I am competing with when a potential reader is browsing the summaries of all the articles within my targeted niche.

Treat the summary with the same care and consideration as your resource box.

Some marketers say use it at the beginning, some say it doesn't matter. For me personally, I prefer to use it in the beginning of the title and if I can squeeze a second keyword phrase I am targeting in, I do so in the last part of the title.

However, I always write me titles so that they are visitor enticing which I guess you could translate to mean reader friendly - I always want the reader to click on my article!
