I used getresponse for donkey years. It was simpler and easier to use in the old days, I feel, and then they went and complicated it (I feel). Not with them anymore. I'm told Aweber is better.

Highly Suggest Aweber or 1Shopping Cart if you want to integrate an Affiliate Mgmt. System and You require credit card processing....

It's going to cost you more for 1Shopping Cart but it's worth it if everything is going to be managed within your account.

I moved from my own hosted autoresponder (waste of time) to a desktop autoresponder that linked to Outlook (still useful for purchased safelists) to GetResponse before finally ending up at Aweber.

Aweber has achieved by far the best response in my book.

Aweber, no doubt. GetResponse does the job but aweber brings you success.

I like Aweber, but there are times when GetResponse has advantages. You can integrate GetResponse with DL Guard, for example.

For most users, Aweber is terrific.

It depends what features you're looking for. Did you try using the search feature? There are a ton of threads about Getresponse, Aweber, and many other autoresponders. Frankly, 99% of the stuff that's written about autoresponders are inaccurate or incomplete. Someone will use Aweber and only Aweber and claim they are the "best", yet they've never tested Getresponse, Constant Contact, Email Aces, or total ecommerce solutions like 1ShoppingCart.com. Also someone will violate Getresponse's TOS, get banned, and then come into a forum like this under an anonymous name and begin bad-mouthing Getresponse. By the way, this happens to both companies. This is why when I read threads about autoresponders I take them with a grain of salt.

There actually isn't a "best" option because no two businesses have the exact same needs, scalability, budget, objectives, etc. I use both Getresponse and Aweber and they've both gotten the job done for me. So in order for people to accurately answer your question, we would have to know what specific features you're looking for. Some people prefer to host their own solution (not a good idea for most people in my opinion), while others prefer to go with a 3rd party service like GR or Aweber or [insert name of your fav autoresponder company here], and others gravitate toward more high end solutions.

    Good luck,

What's wrong with hosting your own? Sure I've had some mangy scripts but a good script does the job - providing your domain is not known for spam of course.

As for deliverability, how can you really tell?

If you're going to host your own autoresponder, it's essential you know how to set up your server correctly to get good deliverability. I host my own autoresponder and get excellent deliverability now, but it was terrible at the start. I didn't know anything about setting up DNS correctly, domain keys etc. Now I've learned all that and my emails are getting delivered to hotmail, yahoo, AOL, MSN etc with no problem at all.

At the end of the day, if you haven't got time (or desire) to learn how to set up your server correctly it's better to go with someone like Aweber or Getrespone. I like tinkering around with servers but most people are not like me.

I still use Aweber on behalf of some of my clients, who I manage email campaigns for. The only downside is the cost of Aweber has gone up. But it's still good value for money.

Guys & Gals -- Aweber (Private label stlye) --> Get Jvlistpro.com

You get up to 10,000 lead list for a set price. Unlimited lists, etc. None of that small tier pricing garbage from aweber.

I used to do my own autoresponder, but with CAN-SPAM, I don't want problems with compliance and have to resort to single optins. I want DOUBLE.

I posted a thread on the main page about how I am looking for testers for my new software. It is very simple, and easy to use. Even comes with an installation wizard. Only a one time fee, and I'll install for you if needed. I just need feedback on it to make it even better. It will manage your mail lists, and also has setup features to paste HTML forms for user opt in on your web sites. If anyone is interested in testing and giving us feedback, let me know by PM.

I use infinite auto responder a free script which can be downloaded from hotscripts. You can have unlimited auto responders handling your lists, single or double opt in, mail bouncer etc.

You do have to set up a cronjob for it to work on auto pilot though which is easy enough to do. Mine is set so every time my site loads it checks to see if any e-mails need sending.

You can limit the amount of e-mails it sends per run send mail.

This is short-term solution to a long-term problem, one of which is deliverability. I hosted my own solution more than once and over time my deliverability got lower and lower. It wasn't until I actually started testing the deliverability (among different ISPs) that I realized that roughly 34% of my e-mails were getting through which meant 66% of my emails were either not getting through or going to the bulk folder. This was only a year of hosting my own solution.

Why was this happening? I didn't have a clue on how to run all the administrative stuff that people tend to leave out in the autoresponder threads. I didn't know how to have open lines of communications to all the major ISPs to ensure I was meeting their standards. I didn't have time to check the blacklists for all my domain names. And that's just the tip of iceberg. There's a lot of technical know-how that I'm leaving out, simply because I'm not an expert at running an autoresponder business. I understand why people want to host their own solution because there's no monthly fee involved so they think they're saving money, but in the longrun they will always lose money because they don't know all the ins-and-outs of the autoresponder business. I sure don't. IMO, some things are meant to be outsourced, such as my internet connection, my cable TV, and my autoresponder service, because I want the experts to handle all the back end stuff.

    Hi everyone.

I think Aweber is the best for options, deliverability and ease of use, but there is a better option... Most people don't know this, but Aweber has a reseller option (not an affiliate program) that costs the reseller $5,000.

The advantage for you or me to go with a reseller is simple... cost. You can check out the difference at ProSender Autoresponder & Newsletters: Unlimited Follow Up Autoresponders Increase Email Deliverability.

I tested Infinite Responder. It has bugs in it that cut off
emails of longer than 50 lines or so. Other than that it's a
elegant script. Also - no support at all.

People are naturally going to recommend what they use. I'm
not sure what the psychological principle is, but it's the reason
a SAAB driver will argue for the excellence of SAAB cars - when
there are clearly more reliable cars available. Just an example -
    nothing against SAAB.

A couple of months ago there were Warriors moaning that Yahoo
was spam-foldering all emails from Aweber... I don't know if the
problem went away, but a few folks were pretty fed-up.

I use single opt-in. We can argue about it here - but you'll
always build a list faster with single opt-in. If you pay for traffic
and insist on double opt-in, well, you leave a lot of money on the
    table don't you?

And you compared and tested Aweber against how many other autoresponders? And with how many e-mails across how many of the major ISPs?

I'm trying to decide between JVListPro and Aweber. I heard JVListPro was basically a private label Aweber but does it have the same deliverability and features as Aweber?

It is definitely a better buy but don't want to have deliverability suffer just to save a buck.

      Anyone have experience with this?
