What do you do to protect fraudulent clickbombing and other similar activities on your websites?

    Re: AdSense? Making sure that you use the allowed sites thingie in the admin area is a good place to start. Don't post your sites where you might have enemies, and don't tell your friends or family about your sites or how AdSense works because they might want to "help" you by clicking your ads and Google will catch that. Also, don't even mention your ads on your sites because Google might see it as click begging.

    I seem to recall that someone somewhere had a script that could detect clickbombing on your sites and it would automatically disable the ads but that was a long time ago and I wouldn't know where to find it or if it even really existed.

    Finally, if you suspect something weird going on, you should immediately let Google know about it (document everything just in case) and you should probably disable that site in your AdSense admin area, at least temporarily.

      Agreed. I do have the authentication whitelist setup, thanks! And I am working on increasing my WHOIS privacy among other things. I'm not completely and heavily concerned yet, but I try to be cautious.

      Yes I remember that post also - or a plugin that would disable "frequent" visitors from viewing AdSense on my sites as well.

      Friends and family don't know a thing either. Funnily enough, they seem to have this ":rolleyes:" face when I even try to tell them they can purchase items they're already going to buy off an affiliate link.

      Fam: "I'm buying dad an ipad."
      Me: "Cool, I can send you the Amazon link to buy it through."
      Fam: " :rolleyes: ... OMG look at you!" ("How dare you try to make money off me!")
      Me: " :rolleyes::confused:"

      I Go Hard = "Slanguage" for putting forth a lot of effort.

      Don't be an arse and try to flip something you clearly have no knowledge of against me.

        I usually respond to that by saying "Hey, you'll pay the same price either way. Would you really rather put money in Amazon's pocket than mine?"

        "The Golden Town is the Golden Town no longer. They have sold their pillars for brass and their temples for money, they have made coins out of their golden doors. It is become a dark town full of trouble, there is no ease in its streets, beauty has left it and the old songs are gone." - Lord Dunsany, The Messengers

          I know from occasional replies to "list AR emails" that there are a lot of people out there who assume that they're going to pay more for buying through an affiliate-link.

          Whenever I do my "affiliate disclosure" on websites, I always specify that it "doesn't cost a penny more, of course", to buy this way.

            That's true. I am still working on the listbuilding. However it's hilarious, just telling my sister I'm making money online and she can support my business got the "Screw face". However, she's busting her tail to work for a major female clothing retailer who believes slashing prices 75% or more on a REGULAR basis will keep their heads above water in a bad economy... and chops her hours as they see fit.

          I think it boils down to the mentality of people preferring to feel that you're "working" for your money. Showing them a link or a website apparently isn't work to anyone unless you've been doing it for yourself!

          It always seems your friends and family are always the last on board to support your "entrepreneurial" ventures... especially if it looks like "you're getting something for nothing" because they don't see the work you're putting in!
