How to set REACHABLE financial goals for 2011. Want to make an extra $25,000 this year?

Internet marketing is hard. NO it's not. It's no harder than any other type of marketing or "media" used to market. Argue over which is the Internet at your own financial peril.

Here is how to set reachable goals for 2011.

Let's say, for the sake of example, you want to make an EXTRA $25,000.00 this year.

First is it doable? Well for some Warriors, that would be a very disappointing year. For others, it would be a breakthrough.

So, HOW do you make an extra 25 grand this year? First, you do the math. Break it down.

You'll need to "SELL" a product or service for:

ONE at 25,000 dollars each. NOT doable for most, I'd say for .999% Only one in a thousand marketers can sell a 25 grand product or service, but it is hardly BIG TICKET either.

TWO @ 12,500 bux.

FOUR @ 6,250

EIGHT @ 3,125 (SOME of the "launches" approach this figure)

16 @ 1562.50 (a low cost copywriter's fee for web page)

32 @ 781.25 ( a middle cost coaching program)

64 @ 390.625 ( a low cost "coaching" program)

128 @ 195.3125

256 @ 97.65 (an average course or EXTENSIVE ebook/information product)

512 @ 48.82

1024 @ 24.42

2048 @ 12.21

And I won't go any lower, if you are selling below 12 bux a unit, you've got a lot of work to do. In fact, many experts (including myself) will tell you it is easier to sell higher priced products with less hassle and fewer returns than it is to fart around with way low cost products...however, that being said, my personal model has been to sell "low cost" reports in the 25 dollar range to a small number of buyers on my list, less than 7500.

OK. So there you have the MATH and some personal philosophy.

More opinion: better to sell your own products or services, however, faster to start with affiliate marketing. To reach your goal, a combo might be appropriate.

So, back to our 25,000 EXTRA income goal.

Part one: find a product you can become an affiliate of, in an area in which you have some passion or interest, and try to find ones with at least 25 dollar or more payouts. 50 bux on a 97 dollar product would be good.

Part TWO. Create or Acquire (have made for you, Private Label Rights or buy something) a product of your own you can sell for 97 dollars and offer an affiliate program on it.

Now here is what most don't understand. It isn't a proportionate or a exponential dollar income. In other words, you can't figure you'll sell one per day for the year.

You may sell ONE a month for a couple of months. Then you increase sales as you get to a point of knowing what you are doing and more likely, you'll make most of your sales in the last 60 days...

which also explains why so many people QUIT or give up too soon, because they don't understand or use the concept of accumulation...

Warriors who have been failing for 4 years are most likely to be quitters who give up too soon, or who haven't spent the time to build upon a solid foundation.

NOW, when the numbers get bigger, say you want an extra 100,000 bux a year, the reason most people can't reach this goal, is it is for them, an UNBELIEVABLE goal, so they can't even get to first base. So many people want to make their first 100 bux. Not much of a goal, but it is believable for everyone.

Set your goals.
Develop a PLAN of ACTION based on weekly/daily activities within your time constraints.

Do the heavy lifting the first 6 months, let it snowball and get build up.
Think it through from the get go. See the results you want, write them down and backward chain your plan of action.

Let time work for you.

It's NOT hard, it's continuously FOCUSED action on a very specific goal.

So start there. What is your specific goal for 2011?

Then WRITE out your plan to get it.

If you know what to do, IM can be easy, but for noobies, like myself, I'm finding it difficult to know what's true and what's not. Who's advice and direction do we follow.

It's a scary thing to know that there are thousands of marketers out there who prey on noobies, and can send them in circles, until they've exhausted their efforts and their bank accounts. I get that that's marketing, and the web is full of them, but it's another obstacle to overcome. We're all trying to break the bank, so at the end of the day we're all each others competition...so who do you trust?

      Holly,

You are right...IM is a jungle and the noobie could get eaten alive.

The way to start right is to identify YOUR goals. What exactly do you want to achieve with your IM efforts? Is it a monetary goal? Would an extra 1000 dollars a month work for you?

HOW will the money come to you? What will the transaction look like? These are basic questions you ask yourself.

What do you bring to the IM table? What skills? Interests?

Look at track records. Some people who "prey" on the noobies are NOOBs themselves, often with a few months and some "claimed" success.

Here at the WF, you'll find people who have YEARS of IM success. You'll find tested and proven strategies, and there are hundreds of ways to make money...but only ONE basic way...to have a TRANSACTION in mind.

How does your prospect get his/her money into YOUR hands?

When you look at WSO or other money making ventures, start with the TRANSACTION.

How does this person locate your offer? The answer involves SEO as well as marketing/sales/copywriting elements to get the eyeballs to reach for their wallets.

It begins and ends with YOUR desires, what you want to achieve and HOW you want to do it. I don't believe in a one size fits all and in 24 years of ONLINE marketing, I've seen this one myth exploited over and over again:

"IF I DID IT, SO CAN YOU."

      It is simply NOT true.

Look for ways which match your personality, strengths, beliefs and habits.

Trust your instincts. Do DUE DILIGENCE. Select your opportunities and follow lighted pathways which have been trodden for years, not days or months.

So, what do you want? Why? How? When?

And create a PERSONAL plan of action to get it.

Pick the most comprehensive, well-reviewed, and free resources you can find...that also seem like something you can do.

Then focus on that, to the exclusion of all other methods.

Do that, and it's almost impossible to fail.

Wow! Thanks gjabiz, I'm going to print this out so I can read it often! Thanks for taking the time to reply back with all of this, I guess I have a lot of questions I need to answer first, before I dive in to IM. I love the simplicity of the word transaction, at the end of the day, that's what the aim is. Awesome!

Don't worry about competition. You should know what you are up against if you are trying to rank a website in the search engines, but that's about it. You should have a frame of mind that you can outwork anyone.

As far as trusting someone...here are a couple people I trust:

      blogger illustrated dot net
      grizzly brears dot com

Those 2 guys teach what works and DONT SELL ANYTHING TO THEIR READERS.

      Hope that helps.

Breaking it down into bite-sized pieces is always better, as it makes your goals feel more attainable. I work this way myself, figuring out what will make me $50 or $100/ day, rather than how much I need to make per month or per year.

There are people out there that you can trust, and many people in this forum that you can trust. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Use common sense and you should be in pretty good shape.

There are often posts asking for pricing guidelines - this section of the OP is as good a basis for pricing info-products as I've seen just about anywhere.

    Thanks Gordon!
