Keyword Research Question (Broad Search Terms)

Hey all! I have a question about keyword research and determining the viability of a niche market.

I'm currently working on developing a niche product for a specific subset of people. Unfortunately, it seems near impossible to gauge the actual potential of the market with keyword research.

Here's an example (This is NOT my Niche, but it illustrates my problem nicely). Let's say I'm writing an eBook about Yoga for traveling sales people. There's a lot of specific applications of Yoga that would be interesting... Including:

- Poses that can be done in a cramped hotel room.

- Centering and calming your mind right before a big presentation

- Poses that build physical fitness since most sales rep's spend their lives in a car.

Now... If you do keyword research, there's absolutely nothing for "Yoga for Professional Sales People". However... Here are the daily search results for two interesting phrases.

yoga - 3,125 Daily Searches
basic yoga poses - 619 Daily Searches

Would a traveling sales professional instinctively search for a product geared at them, or would they just search for one of the general phrases above? I'm guessing the latter.

Surely, some of those 3,744 daily searches have to be from professional sales people, but how do I tell how many? Of that number, how many would be interested in a product specifically for them?

Is there something I'm missing here, or am I probably trying to squeeze water out of a dry niche?

I think you are digging too deep in this niche, if I am away on business I would just search for yoga in the area where I was staying. Most yoga classes are aimed at a wide range of people unless you are targetting corporate business customers etc...

The quickest way to test any market is to get an adwords campaign running using exact match keywords and track your conversions and ask them what they want. This will cost money but will save you so much time compared to launching a product that has no demand.

I hadn't thought of that! That's a really great idea. Thanks so much for responding!

      Any other thoughts?
