If you do this without giving up and changing directions, 2011 will be a good year to make money.

1. Think of something that you are passionate about - boats, lawnmowers, diapers, bikes, etc. whatever. It is important that you pick something that excites you...don't worry if it is something that you can make money off of or not.

2. Now take your passion and make a niche out of it. How? lawn mowers under 200 dollars. Diapers for old people, mountain bikes for under 500 dollars. Used BMWs in Houston. This is your niche.

3. Build a nice professional website. Buy domain name for at least 2 years (if not 10). It is important that you build a nice looking website. Pay somebody 500 dollars on Rentacoder.com to build you something good. Also, get aweber account and put their widget to collect email addresses.

4. Spend 15-20 hours looking thru amazon, ebay, walmart, etc websites to find items that meet your niche and put those items nicely on your website (their description, pictures, price, etc) and put the affiliate links of those items.

5. Spend about an hour each day to make sure you add new items daily to your site, and update descriptions and make user friendly links and website.

6. Spend about an hour each day to write article about each item that you just put on your website and then put the link to that item in your article's resource section. Put your article on ezine.

7. After three months, don't add new items to your site daily, but take that time to market your site some more.

8. After six months, try contacting the manufacturer of your items directly, and try to remove the ebay/amazon link slowly and put manufacturer's links directly.

9. After 9 months, build shopping cart in your site and don't send people to outside websites for all the items -

10. After 12 months, you now have an authority website for the niche you were passionate about!

Here is the most important thing. Don't give up, don't change directions, just build on one thing, don't listen to people who tell you that there is no money in your niche. Make sure you spend at least an hour on your website each day. Even if you spent 15 hours on sunday, you still have to spend 1 hour on monday.

Looks like a decent plan. Nice work.

One thing worth mentioning is that this plan requires a good deal of cash investing on your part, especially if you plan on leaving the affiliate realm so quickly to become a dealer. If you have the resources to do so, great. If not, then you might have to stick to affiliate sales until you generate enough income to handle the expenses that are involved in this type of transition.

If a nice looking website isn't important (I agree), why would you spend $500 on it? You could get a nice site made for less than that, or make your own. Spending the time to learn to write good sales copy is more important than hiring someone to build you a site that you could make in WP.

        Hi Jkiley,

I like the sound of your plan but when you say slowly replace the amazon etc links with direct from the dealers, do you mean you buy the products yourself and sell them or that you approach the dealers to get your own affiliate agreement with them instead of through a 3rd party?

Great post! If you don´t have the money to have someone build your website for you, do it yourself. In my experience it is not too difficult to build a professional website nowadays with platforms like wordpress available. And content is more important than design - put some effort in the articles and reviews you write and you´ll see results!

No, what I mean by slow is, don't change all the links overnight. See which one is your top seller and then try to remove the middle man for that one...and then go down the list.
