Transferring Hosting anf wordpress

I received 12 months hosting at a seminar about 12 months ago. I have several wordpress sites running on this account. I want to transfer to alternative hosting.
I took as full backup (using FTP transfer) of one site and then changed the DNS.
I restored the backup to the new hosting site, but the site does not work.

What am I doing wrong?

    I have a "moving wordpress sites" video on my blog that may help. no opt-in or anything to get to it.

    Moving wp sites eluded me for a looong time. couldn't get my head around it.

    You need to explain what isnt working about it.

    Maybe give a link to the site would be helpful. There's a bunch of different things it can be.

    When did you change the DNS info at your register?
    Sometimes it takes 24-48 hours for the domain to propagate.

    Did you do a Full Backup via your Cpanel or did you just copy all the files and then
    upload them to your new server?

    Did you also move the databases and make sure they were properly pathed?

    You did not give us much to work with. Give more details and maybe someone can help you.

    You need to export the databases and import them.

    Yeah, sounds like you didnt move the databases. The files only contain your theme and uploaded files.
