Google analytics: standard tracking vs ecommerce tracking

Hey Guys,
Could someone explain in short the main differences between GA "standard" tracking and the eCommerce tracking?
is it against Google policy to use the standard tracking code on an eCommerce website?

another question: I live in the US but my main market is in the UK.
Its important to me that when people in the UK search for my service - my website will come up high in the search results.
will it affect my page rank IN THE UK if I will set the google analyst time zone to USA east cost time zone?

My fear is this: since google owns both Google search AND google analytics, it may assume that my website is own by American people, and there for it is more likely do be demanded by visitors from the US. but when visitors from the UK make a search, the website will not come up high in the search results because it is less likely to be demanded by visitors from the UK
Is there something about that? or maybe I am too paranoid?

Google facilitates ecommerce conversion for analysing your transactions. Also if you want to be higher in UK then do some link building for UK site and target the region.

Getting regional traffic as part of targeting it is necessary to use Google with that country domain other than ".com".
