How can I combine HatsForCat domain with HatsForCats?

Hello all,

Newbie question alert! I was doing some long-tail keyword searching and found a phrase that makes more grammatical sense if I make the last word plural.

Let's say that the keyword phrase was "hats for cat" (that's not the real phrase). I was able to register hatsforcat.com and also able to get hatsforcats.com. I'd like to have it so that everything is hosted on one domain, and all links point to that single domain. However, I don't know if I'll lose Google ranking by pointing to the grammatically correct hatsforcats, since that's not the exact phrase that was listed in the Google Keyword Tool.

Is there some recommended way to handle this, or am I worrying about something that I don't need to worry about?

Thanks,
Scott

Use a 301 redirect to redirect from the hatsforcat domain to the hatsforcats domain.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I am not 100 percent sure I understand your question. But hatforcat is included in the domain name hatsforcats.

Exact match domains are nice but they are not needed to rank well in Google. The plural form should do just fine for your project.

Too bad that is not the real phrase, that would be a cool idea for cat lovers.

Hi, you decide to use hatsforcats to use as your main site. Then you create a redirect for hatsforcat that will redirect to hatsforcats.

It's obvious: some people will forget to type the last s and they will still go to the main site.

if anyone link the other domain, it will still benefit you because you have done a 301 redirect. 301 redirect is easy and can be found on your domain settings.

My main concern was that I'd rather use the grammatically correct domain name (since that will match my anchor text and article titles), and that I might not rank as highly if I wasn't using the exact match of the search term. But it sounds like that's not an issue.

I'll just set it all up under hatsforcats and use the 301 on hatsforcat.

      Thanks for the advice.
