Annoying Email Twist - Usub Link Goes To Sales Page

OK, so I got one of those annoying emails that says "Congratulations You Made An Affiliate Sale" in the subject line.

It was for this Mass Money Makers thing that I don't promote and don't even really know what it is so I know I didn't make an affiliate sale.

So, I click in to unsubscribe... of course, the unsub link was way at the bottom after about a page of white space.

So I scroll down the page and finally get to the bottom.... I click......

..... and instead of the page that lets me click to unsubscribe from this mailing list, it goes right to the annoying video sales page for the product.

So, I can't even unsub from the list!

Yes, I got something similar, but the email that I received had a working unsubscribe link.
But the subject line also was "You just made an affiliate sale".

This is something that a marketer does only one time with me. In my case it was actually a "guru" with a big name. Too bad that he showed me he real face.

For reasons like this, I love the filter system in Gmail. Right into the trash it goes.

I used to get upset with tactics like this. Now I just chalk it up to experience of finding out something that does not work so well.

Interesting that the autoresponder setup allows that.

Probably not a white label Aweber or Getresponse.

I have received such emails myself and it usually ends up being someone using either some self hosted program or they are mailing out in batches.

Legitimate Autoresponder systems such as DirectResponders, aweber, getresponse etc would never allow such crap.

My suggestion is to look at the header and find the received from IP and lookup the abuse address using WHOIS.CYBERABUSE.ORG and report it as spam or use Spamcop.

Marketers using tactics like that deserve to be shut down.
