Great thread, Shannon.
Too many people just use their article's resource box to promote their own egos, and that's pretty sad. The reader finishes the article and then has no reason to read anything else from you. No wonder so many people have trouble converting article marketing into conversions. Want to increase your ctr up to 90% ?? Try this: (FREE TIP HERE) From now on, only submit articles in this format 7 tips to "main benefit", or 5 Steps to "main benefit". Articles should be laid out in clear step-by-step formula. Tip 1, Tip 2, Tip 3,etc; but when they get to the end of your article, you hit them up with something like "for the final 3 tips on how to get "main benefit" that will complete the 7 tips that you just read about <Click Here>." Or something along the lines of "and now for the 3 tips for getting "main benefit" that my publisher wouldn't let me show you <Click Here> for the secret door", etc. In other words, make all of your articles two-parts. One part is on the article directory or some publisher's website, and the second part is on the site that you want your readers to land on once they have finished your article. It also helps to have an article that is compelling and that someone wants to read. Just my 2 cents. By the way, what do think of your new coach, now that Chuckie's gone? |

Thanks for sharing the video, Shannon. Great advice...
Your bio-box tip reminded me of a post from Steven Wagenheim that revealed another golden tip - for writing article titles. Article Writing - The Fine Line Between Informing And Selling And A $1,000 Tip Your bio-box tip + Steven's title tip + interesting article content... might just be a winning combination for people. Thanks for sharing. As a cautionary measure, be sure that you do a two part article in the manner described above. If you're title says "7 Tips That Will Help Your (Whatever)", make sure that article has those 7 tips. Then, in the resource box, you can offer the reader as many more tips as you'd like with a link back to your site. Just make sure you deliver on the promise of the article title. Another idea for you to consider along these same lines is this: Let's take the "tips" example and run with it. Create an outline of about 10 tips on the topic of your niche. Flesh this out to a full "10 Tips..." article on your blog or static webpage. Create several shorter articles that are based around only 3, 4 , or 5 of those tips. Then, in your resource box, you can lead the reader to your blog post or static page for the remainder of the tips that they didn't get in your original 3, 4, or 5 tips article. Give it a try. Enjoy! | |

Thanks for the encouragement,
Great tip, it works like gangbusters I've been doing this for a few months now. Something else that might help in connection with your advice might be to keep the articles to about 250-350 words in length so that the reader doesn't fall victim to ADD before they get to the resource box ![]() Thanks again, Nando |

Thanks Shannon! I did exactly what I shouldn't do in my very first resource boxes. I quickly learned about the idea of 'continuing the article' but never had it explained so clearly as you did in the video. The idea of starting off with the word 'Next,' is such a simple little thing but I can see how it would make a big difference! Thanks for a very useful tip.

Shannon, great stuff! I get the "playing on the computer" thing all the time. I used to think it was because I wasn't making big enough money to be impress anyone. That's not always it, though, because even though I make enough to work from home and my income has steadily risen, I still get a certain amount of this.
I came to the conclusion that some are always going to be jealous because you are home and free and they are still tied to a boss and job. Some people are too afraid to change or try anything new. Tina G |

Hi Shannon,
Interesting video. I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I've been on EZA for almost as long as they've existed. And my resource box is like you described. But ... I have a phenomenal click through rate. Why? Because my articles are targeted to a specific niche. I get the whole "continuity" thing but this is article marketing. And when I read someone's article and I DON'T see the author's name somewhere in the resource box, I assume an amateur has written the article and just wants to redirect me to a splash page. Also, would you care to share just how you know clickthrough rates increase 10x or more using your method? You were very specific here so I assume you have the data to back up your claim. P.S. The number of articles you write greatly increases overall clicktrhough. I have over 250 articles written and enjoy a continuous stream of traffic. |

Great post Shannon! I like the way you went into the detail about the importance of the resource boxes and how it is imperative to have to have a focused and targeted resource box for the niche area you are in. Thank you!

Great video! Thank You Shannon.
The author bio/resource box thing is an example of "regurgitated" material being continually passed on. I remember a time when things were not so competitive and you could get away with the "I'm the greatest" type resource box. Not anymore... Calvin |

There is is the matter of increasing CTR and increasing sales. Nobody said so
far that this increases sales. There are many ways to use curiosity to get people to look at a web page or get emails opened but increasing sales is another thing. For example, Mark Joyner showed how curiosity subject lines for emails increased the open rates of emails but it DID NOT INCREASE sales. So before you get to ecstatic about changing the resource box from the traditional "author is so great" also test if this increases your sales. Increasing CTR is easy. Getting the sale is the hard part. (Except it's Adsense CTR) -Ray Edwards |

I get a CTR of around 25% which surely can be better. I always focus to solve people's problems by providing a call to action resource box (some kind of a teaser). The resource box is an art really!

Nice video and your right about the resource box, Thankfully I learned that early on so have always implemented that. CTR will be at a higher rate this way as you said and providing you have good content or FREE offer on your landing page then conversions will be at a higher rate also so I strongly agree with what you said.

I've just started doing my resource box like you advise. I make sure I can see the end of the article and continue on the lines of where it left off. It also helps keep the flow all the way to the real end. Thanks for the encouragement we all need that. I agree, don't give up no matter what!

I just thought I'd post a update since I changed my resource boxes last month after reading this great tip. My CTR was hovering around 5 - 15% max for ALL of my articles (sucks huh?) but the last 4 articles I have written and had accepted have all had CTR of 40% or higher.
Thanks again

That's my next step. I'm just having fun exploring for now. I got so much to learn, but it's been all good so far. Writing articles and blog posts and getting them on the first page of Google really rocks! Now I just have to focus everything and find the one niche that I can run with and support a list with product from CB etc.
