Gmail woes... any MX records geniuses out there??

Hi guys,

Wasn't sure where to post this thread, so apologies if it's in the wrong place...

I have a paid business gmail account for my domain, but haven't been receiving emails from some clients, who have a basic gmail.com accounts.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to MX records, but I have the priority set to "0", & pretty much only changed things to include gmail's details (apologies for lack of tech-speak).

Has anyone had the same problem & resolved it?

Would love any and all help!

Cheers,
Sissy

Do your emails end up in previous servers mailbox?

      Hi Auradev,

Yes, I've just discovered that they are - just delete the old account on my hosting server?

      Cheers,

    NO NO NO.

Dont delete your account. This just means that you have an MX record or DNS problem.

If you made the change in the last 72 hours, then you need to just wait. It takes time to fully transfer over.

If you made the change more than 3 days ago, you failed somewhere and now must track it down (its a big pain to do this).

Leave your old host up, you dont want to loose business or piss off clients.

      Thanks Auradev!

I made the MX records changes weeks ago, must admit, I've had email problems since then, so have obviously done something wrong.

Think I'll just go back through the steps on gmail & see if I can identify the problem, unless you have a magical solution

      Thanks for your help!

Assuming the OP is using the correct nameservers that allows him to make the
MX records, shouldn't the OP delete any other DNS record indicating email? If
there's like a CNAME or other mail record, that might be "confusing" where the
      email should actually go to.

Sissy, ask whoever's nameservers you're using for additional help if need be. I
am sure they can help troubleshoot that also.
