Thinking Of Hooking Up With Somebody Here?...Read Their Posts

I'm sure there are a few people here who have probably thought of hooking
up with somebody at this forum to do something, not necessarily a JV, but
something. Problem is, who do you choose? I'm thinking more along the lines
of choosing somebody who is going to be the right fit for you. Sometimes
what you want isn't always good for you. So you want to choose
carefully.

So how?

Read their posts. This will tell you a lot about somebody. You want to look
at 3 things when you do this.

1. Their Knowledge - You want to get a decent idea of what somebody
knows and how much they know. If you're not very knowledgeable, you
don't want to hook up with somebody who is in the same boat. That's
kind of like the blind leading the blind. On the other hand, if you're very
knowledgeable and your goal is to actually give somebody a helping hand,
then maybe you DO want to hook up with a newbie. Still, you want to get
an idea of what level they're at. You may not want to hook up with
somebody who is just starting out or maybe you prefer to stay away from
somebody who knows a little bit and may be stuck in their ways.

That brings us to the second thing you look at.

2. Their Attitude - You want to see how the person conducts themselves
here. Are they rude? Are they opinionated? Are they strong willed and
stubborn? Or are they pretty easy going, open to suggestions and to the
opinions of others? The personality type will have a lot to do with how
well you two get along depending on your personality type. Not every
person is a fit for every other person.

The last thing you want to look at is:

3. Their Signature - You want to see what they're into. Their interests
may be totally different from yours. For example, maybe somebody is into
blackhat marketing techniques and you're violently opposed to them. You
will probably have a hard time working with somebody like this.

What if they're a graphic designer and you're a programmer? This could be
a good combination as your skills complement each other. Perhaps by
getting a third person into the mix you could come up with something
good.

There are other things that would be nice to know, such as how
successful they are, but that's very hard to gauge. Some people talk
a very good game but don't make anywhere near what they claim, so
you can't really rely on what they say...but...

By looking at their knowledge, attitude and business model, you can get
a pretty decent idea of whether or not there is a fit there.

Remember, I'm not necessarily talking about getting a JV. This could
apply to something as simple as getting together over Skype and sharing
some strategies. If you have complimentary knowledge...they have
something you want and you have something they want...then a mutually
beneficial chat could be in order.

In other words, the relationship, whatever it turns into, has to be
beneficial to both parties, so in going through this procedure you have
to look at your own knowledge, attitude and business model.

Is there somebody here who is a perfect fit?

Do you have something to offer them?

Perfect example. I recently promoted one of Dean Shainin's products
because it was a perfect fit for what I did. It made sense for me to
promote it for that reason. As a result, the promotion went very well
for both of us. And if Dean came out with another similar product, I
would promote it again.

It comes down to finding your perfect match. Dean understood that when
he approached me because he knew it was a perfect match, plus he had
a reputation as good, if not better than mine. So I was in good company.

So, wanna hook up with somebody here?

Read their posts...a lot of them.

    Good points Steven.

8 months ago, I never would have even thought to check someone out. If they wanted to work with me, I would have jumped at the opportunity. Now, I am a lot more careful who I work with and also who I endorse/promote.

    Steven,
I wholeheartedly agree. You can tell a lot about a person and their integrity, work ethics and personality simply by reading through their posts. Working with others online can be a very daunting task as it is more about relationships built on what could be false personalities. By really listening to the tone in which they present themselves and the other things you pointed out like sig files etc you can find yourself in the company of others that comliment your abilities and your ethics. Without the fore knowledge, who knows the type or person you will end up joining yourself up with.

    Wise old sage

I don't know if I'm ready for a JV yet, but I like Ken Preuss and I've respected JMO for quite a long time.

Both these characters are very different, but I'm attracted to their innovation, dedication and vision.

There are many people I wouldn't turn down, simply because they are 'doers' and I'd love to walk under the guidance of a real person of action!
