Is Public Domain Business Dead?

For some time now I have not heard any
Warrior mentioning public domain business.

Amazon affiliate marketing is all the rage now.

Can any one say one or two things about public
domain materials, business and its currency as
a source of internet income?

I am interested.

    Public Domain is alive and kicking!!!

    People ARE making money with it....

    As you bring up Amazon, I'll let you know there are a TON of PD products on amazon.

    I have a bunch myself on the Kindle platform as we speak (in fact the sales have gone through the roof with the number of Kindles sold this holiday period....)

    Public domain seemed pretty popular back in 2005-2006ish. Back then people were saying they converted old public domain books to DVD and sold them for $197/product. I think success with public domain was always limited, you just tended to hear pretty cool stories. But of course, you can still make money with public domain.

    Amazon affiliate programs are all the rage? I have noticed a lot of threads. What's changed from before?

    Google's got the market all sewed up, scanning everything in sight and just giving it away.

    Not worth the time and effort. Just stay out of it. Yeah, that's the ticket. Stay away from public domain.

    Just go get yourself some cheap PLR and spin it like crazy. Forget about public domain. Don't just forget about it--run away! Run away!

    All of these things go in cycles. People are currently cycling through Amazon Affiliate programs, and they will continue to do so, until they realize that in their hands -- even Amazon is dead.

    If I was doing Public Domain, it would surely be dead.

    Now and again, I run into people who are still working with those items.

    Marketer who do not include public domain content as a part of their product creation limit a bit their stream of income. Let me give a (hypothetical) example. Lets say you are in the dog niche. A lot of magazines came out in the 1950's that are in the public domain and handle subjects like dog training, puppy training, dog potty training, how to train your dog not to bark. That is still something people are interested today - and simply I do not think that the problems of dogs changed from the 1950's till today very much. Well maybe they did not have their own dog tv shrink at that time, but the problems are still the same. The same counts for subjects like hobbies, workout, body building, loosing weight etc .

    You do not need to publish as books - you can use it also for instance in software programs like a recipe database etc.

      Certainly not dead. The trick is how you use that public domain content. Over 90% of my products are created using public domain content and since November I have seen sales of my PD created content continue to climb.
