I did a really dumb thing (domain name)

A few years ago, I essentially gave away a three letter domain name to my best friend for his business.

He didn't really need that particular name, but I just figured it was a natural fit for the business he was in, and I really wasn't using it any more, so I let him have it.

Time and circumstance have relegated his business to more of a sideline than a primary effort.

We have been like brothers since we were 10 years old, so I don't really regret it.

However, had I known what I know now, I never would have done it.

Let's just say it would be a natural fit for one of the political parties or a host of other certain people, like say, music artists or other business entities.

The moral of the story is think before you act.

And before you rush off to buy something else to enhance your business, take stock of what you already have.

You may just have a 'diamond in the rough'.

    Ralph,

think about the bright side of the story. At the end of the day, you have learned that you should reconsider what you already have, in order to build the future.

Nobody knows what's hiding behind the days, and may the days to come be brighter than those who passed. Life is full of lessons, so do not feel sorry about what you've lost, think about what you've learned and keep going on trying not to do the same mistakes again.

    Good luck,

      Hi Guys,

For the record, I'm not at all sorry for having 'lost' the domain name and only posted the story to help others take stock of what they have before making a quick decision.

I did suggest to my friend that I would help him, if and when he decides to sell the domain name.

Frankly, it never occurred to me until recently that a very short domain name could be worth a small fortune, depending upon the specific combination of letters.

Life is a lesson if we pay attention!
